Higurashi no Naku Koro ni., aka; when the cicadas cry/when they cry Options

I saw this series a long time ago, but got too confused & freaked out to finish it.
So, finally, after months, I finally finished it a few weeks ago.

^-^ I was just wondering if anybody else had ever heard of this series.

It's a series of horrorific murders. I don't think it's actually a "scary" genre, but it does have its freaky moments that do creep you out. ><;; Especially Rena's crazy psychopath laugh.
It was just licensed recently (not really, but around the beginning of March, I think) under the name "When they cry - Cicadas." It's a recommended series to read or watch if you haven't yet and is also into bloody, gory things. The first arc has a lot of bloody action at the end. (: Actually, all of them do, i think. x.x;

There's also a video game & light novel on it, so I'm surprised that most anime fanatics haven't even heard of this series. :S
