Do you think that regretting things is worth your time?!
Me personally, I do my best to not have regrets. The way I see it, every experience that I've ever gone through I've either enjoyed or learned from. Take away any one of them and I wouldn't be the person I am today. So no, I don't believe in regretting things, because it's how you deal with them that's important. Plus, what's the point of getting emotional about something in the past? It's not like you can change it now, you just have to make the best of it. THAT is what makes you who you are. |

They're defentley not worth anyone's time, but it's hard not to look back and remember the bad things.
However, we can learn from them. |

Sometimes I regret things but I'd never change them, Just wish at that time I would of decided to do different. The 'regrets' you have are the reason your like the way you are now. They are some of the reasons you are you.

I'm constantly regretting things and living in the past. I don't want to, but it's hard not to. I think it's part of human nature. Regret is kind of a greed and wanting more. Because ur always thinking of how things wuld hav been bettr 'if' this hapend insted. Meaning, ur not satisfied w/ wut u got.

I wouldn't know how to answer the question to this topic because it's so broad. Whether or not a regret is worth anyone's time depends on the situtition.
If you're regretting that you had lunch with Daniel instead of Joe this weekend, then no, that's not something worth thinking about unless one of them is your boyfriend/husband. If you're regretting that you should have been more respectful, more loving towards your mother before she passed away, then yes. Regret is appropriate. Regret isn't always a bad thing. Regretting something means you realized you've made a mistake. When you realize you've made a mistake and it hurts you, learn from it to prevent the making of the same wrong in the future. So could someone please tell me what exactly is there to debate about? |

^ yea it is a general topic there are like different kinds of situations.
but to me regretting something is thinking too much about the past. i mean its the past its gone you cant do anything to change it. the only thing you can do is worry about the present and change your future. |

It's only normal to think: "I shouldn't have done that" or "I should have done this.."
If it's a big deal, of course you will be reminded of it. Of course you might feel bad, but you should never let it effect something you desire to do next.. |

regretting something is another way of saying, "what that happen.... i shouldnt of done that..." dont regret it. when u regret something, yes, u may learn from it but it will only hold u back and make u think about the situatuion until u fix it. sometimes fixing a situation is not the best answer. example: someone punched u and u had the perfect chance to punch them back without getting caught. this is a good example becaue later u will "regret" not getting what that certain person deserved. so dont dwell on such matters that could drive u insane.

i very much agree with the first poster.
take time to see what you've done wrong. and don't do it again. life is worth more-- than to be worried, and regret. <33 to you guys for not being stupid. thank you. |

regrets are in some ways worth your time. but at the same time, you just have to let go, and move on with your life. but you have to realize that when you have regrets you can learn from them, and you wont keep making the same mistakes over and over again, get what i mean?
but for many people [including myself] have a hard time just forgetting, haha. and like you i try not to have any regrets. |

yeah, regrets arent worth your time, but it's hard to not have any regrets. if you did something wrong, you could learn from it, and maybe also find a way to maybe fix it? or make up for it?

it goes both ways.
at times you might have made a choice when you were little. theres nothing to regret about that because you were young; you wouldnt have known any better. but at times i guess regrets are worth your time because you go back and think about all the things that you could have done. |

Eh i personally think it's a waste of time i mean it already happened and theres nothing you can do. All you can do is pat yourself on the back and say "Next time i'll remember not to be so foolish."

i think regrets are when you realize your mistake, and then you learn from your mistakes.

If a person never regreted anything, they would have never apologized either.
I believe more apologies are needed in this world. In order to be mature enough to say we are sorry, we need to make regret worth our time. |

I agree with you 100%. I actually came up with this line the other day:
QUOTE The only thing to fear is regret itself. lol. It's a rip off of JFK but you get the point. I think that regret can be devistated to people's lives. I mean, honestly, there are one or two things I regret because I'm... worried about something right now that might have come from stuff that I could possibly regret. ![]() |

agreed with WhiteLotus. I reget saying or doing things all the time, like a lot of people, but I feel I can learn from them to not experience the same feeling in the future.

Definately not worth your time, its hard not to look back when it seems as if every little thing reminds you of it/he/she.

To the people who said that it helps them learn from their mistakes so it's sometimes good this is all I have to say.
I don't think you must regret mistakes in order to learn from them. As long as you remember. You don't have to say, "I wish this never happened." You can say, "Although I was upset about it at the time, I'm glad it happened because it makes me who I am today." Wow... That sounds amazingly corny but that's how I feel. ![]() |
