For those of you who don't know what falsetto is:
QUOTE Falsetto is a singing technique that produces sounds that are pitched higher than the singer's normal range, in the treble range.[1] Some examples are: Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson, Prince, etc.It is a slightly artificially-raised sounding pitch that often occurs momentarily, if repeatedly, in boys during puberty as their voice changes. Do you like when artists sing in their falsetto voice? Why or why not? If you do, which ones do you hate/love? I think that Justin Timberlake is overdoing it with the falsetto. Although it does sound good, he needs some in his regular range as well. |

Pharrel comes to mind whenever someone mentions falsetto. So, uh yeah, Pharrel. It kinda gets annoying after a while though..

I was just about to name the three you just had there.
![]() Mariah Carey's voice goes spectacularly high, but imo she mis-used it on her last album. |

^ That's true, but then again, that's kind of like his signature. A lot of people know him for that high voice. I think it goes well with JT. He's a major hit with that falsetto of his.

Prince's falsetto is pretty amazing.
and I do like when Justin uses his, he can pull it off quite nicely. Mariah and Celine can hit those high notes pretty well too |

Mariah Carey and Pharrell's falsettos are pretty good. I don't listen to many singers who use it though.

^Yeah, I think it's just Mariah's natural range... I don't think women can have falsettos...but I'm not certain.
Justin has a nice falsetto, but I really don't like that song where it's just like...all falsetto. My Love or something. It's annoying ![]() |

I think Amy Lee of Evanescence has an insane voice. It's strange because when she talks you don't think she'd sing like that. I don't like how people like JT seem like they're stressing themselves to sing high. I like it that Amy Lee just naturally has a high voice and doesn't sound like she's forcing it.

Best falsetto, hands down (in my opinion) was Freddie Mercury's, from Queen.
I always think of.. "somebody toooo(falsettoooooooooooooo) looooooove" from Somebody to Love. oh and of course "carry on... carry on..." from Bohemian Rhapsody. Yeah, typically speaking, falsetto is in reference to men, not women. Although, by strictist of definitions, it could refer to either. 1. an unnaturally or artificially high-pitched voice or register, esp. in a man. 2. a person, esp. a man, who sings with such a voice. –adjective 3. of, noting, or having the quality and compass of such a voice. –adverb 4. in a falsetto. From dictionary.com because, of course, I'd never remember that all verbatim. But, if you are going to use a woman as an example, remember the key words "unnaturally or articially high-pitched voice or register." I don't think Mariah fits in that catagory, even though her voice always gives me a headache. ![]() |
