Lent may only apply to Christians, but if you are one and are celebrating Lent, what are you giving up starting tomorrow? Or, if you're not a Christian or don't celebrate Lent, what's one thing you would give up? Or the other way around, what's one thing you don't think you'd ever be able to?

Starting tommorow, I'm giving chocolate and fast food. I have up chocolate last year for Lent, too, and ooooh-wee, the first couple weeks were terrible.

Ah my friend Kati does this. I was trying to help her brainstorm what to give up during food fundamentals today. I told her to give up soda, but she couldn't handle it so I don't know what she's giving up.

Then I told her to go vegan and everyone around us got really quiet like I was weird or something. -shrugs- For some odd reason half of that class things I'm anorexic too so they try listening to my every word. blink.gif [/off topic]

Anyway if I actually celebrated this I'd so give up fast food. I hate fast food in the first place so it wouldn't be to hard. I've never really liked chocolate so Kaycee, yours would be really easy for me.

One thing I couldn't give up - computer time. pinch.gif
Anything else, I could more than likely keep. I'm usually good about those types of things.

I think giving up cussing is a pretty good idea, or at least lessen down on it. It will aim your chances of being a better person, and not affect your health or whatever.

I'm not Christian/Catholic, but I decided to give something up this year for the hell of it: drinking/ Smoking and swearing too, if I'm feeling daring.

I would give up all my unlady-like ways.
Cursing, bluntness, being dirty, dressing like a boy, playing sports.
*shivers*
I'm so glad I'm not Christian.

Is this a Fast, to keep
The larder lean?
And clean
From fat of veals and sheep?

Is it to quit the dish
Of flesh, yet still
To fill
The platter high with fish?

Is it to fast an hour,
Or ragg’d to go,
Or show
A down-cast look and sour?

No: ‘tis a Fast to dole
Thy sheaf of wheat
And meat
Unto the hungry soul.

It is to fast from strife
And old debate,
And hate;
To circumcise thy life.

To show a heart grief–rent;
To starve thy sin,
Not bin;
And that’s to keep thy Lent.

-Robert Herrick

I thought Lent was specifically Catholic holiday/ritual, not Christian? I'm not either so I won't be celebrating it. Good luck to everyone who is though! I wish you strength and happiness! hug.gif

I already blew it.

I had a keylime chocolate truffle from Godiva... so delicious...

It made me eat it, I swear.

I'm trying not to procrastinate. But obviously it isn't working. Thankfully, I'm not Christian, so I won't feel too bad.

Eh, whatever.

Which is. . . dun, dun, dun. . .

Chocolate.

Think I can do it?

I certainly can try.

Okay, so this morning I didn't know what I should give up. And, well, that morning I had some chocolate. But shortly before, I decided to give up chocolate. XD.gif I wasn't paying attention I guess, so I pretty much blew it in about 3 minutes. Can I still...um....try and give up chocolate? XD.gif

I would never be able to give up my precious strawberry pocky or boba.
So in that case, I will give up Jelly Beans.

Hmm. I'd give up chocolate. I think I can go without it for 40 days.. If I could have no fast food for 2 months I guess I can.

I'd never give up my cupcakes. ohmy.gif
