I'm in 7th grade, and that's when middle school dating goes farther. It's when every body gets stupider and everything can change. I'll tell you right now, I think middle school dating is one of the stupidest things in the world. Your life doesn't change any way! You can't really "go out" cuz you aren't old enough! What's the point?!?! Usually it's just because they think "Oh, I'll be cooler if I have a boy/girl friend. Hey Sammy/Kyle !! Would you go out with me?" "sure.." "OK." thinking : Ha! I have a boy/girl friend now! ha!
What now!!??! It doesn't change their lives at all (atleast at my school) !! The only thing that POSSIBLY changes, is where they sit at lunch, and the teasing from their class mates. My best friend, who I have known since third grade, recently got sucked into the idotic vortex of middle school "dating" and there is nothing I can do to pull her out. So far, she hasn't shone any feelings for the guy. He's a dork. He asked her at a weekend party at one of my other friend's house. I was invited to the party, but I didn't go cuz I had to help my family around the house. (we're redoing a closet in our basement) She told my and a few other people (also friends and her sister) that she was going to say "no". She did. After that he went into the bathroom and cried. *blink blink* She says "yes"!!! OUT OF PITY!!!! That's even worse then sticking with "no" !!!! Now he's going to go home with false hope!!! She DOESN'T LIKE HIM!!!!! She said that she heard that he asked every other girl in the 7th grade except for two (me and marissa) and they all said "no". He's not asking her "out" because he likes her!!! He's asking her "out" so he can have a girl friend!!! IT'S EVIL!! One of the worst parts of it is, her sister is pushing her! My mom and I both agree that her sister grew up too fast, and now she want's my best freind to move up with her! She's pressuring the poor girl into giving the guy her phone number and sitting by him at lunch and AAAAHHH!! They are talking a little, and they're planning on going to the movies with my other friend and her boyfriend. That doesn't sound too bad. mabye she likes the guy! I'm just confused... My and my best friend never wanted to be part of the popular gang. We never wanted to fit in. Now, I think, deep down in her heart, she did, and she think's getting a boy friend will help her with that. I feel like I'm losing her. I'm going to go with them to the mall and the movie, and that sounds fun. I like my friends, and their boyfriends. I guess I'll just enjoy myself. I have birthday money to burn and they're going to see Ghost Rider which I love, so that shouldn't be hard. The bottom line is that I want her to be happy. If this makes her happy and the guy isn't hurt and everything ends up OK, then I guess, no matter how hard for me it is to except, I'll just have to except it. I want her to be happy, and we can still be just as close of friends as we are now. Mabye someday, when I get older, I'll get a boyfriend, and it willl open a new window of fun for me and my friend. I guess I'll just have to wait and see... What would you guys do in my situation? I know most of you are older than me and probably dated or are dating in middle/high school, and you probably don't think it is as stupid as I do, but still. |
