^ No, that's not what I said. I'm saying with your logic, then EVERYONE is ignorant. So it's not fair to single anyone out.

Wow, backtrack much?

QUOTE
What was the point of bringing up that it was nearly removed? If it was removed, that would be something. It would be unfair as well--you could take that ish to the supreme court. Just the fact that some ignorant people thought it was racist and wanted it removed doesn't mean anything. There are plenty of ignorant people, with ignorant ideas to go around.

No where in that statement do you even imply that my logic suggests that everyone is ignorant.

Also, there is a point in bringing things up. It's because people are abusing the system to silence those who protest against them. But, according to you, I suppose we should not care if someone is shot at, but the bullet missed.

Funny that the "ignorant" people who didn't like the scholarships were heads of the black student union. If ignorant people are getting academic scholarships and are the leaders of organizations, then quite frankly I'm worried.

QUOTE(Sandraaa @ Jul 10 2007, 02:19 PM) *
Oh my God, wannabe Seon Ho just told me to never come back ... I'm going to cry.

You're extremely boring dude.

Get off your high horse, you're not as important / funny as you think.

And you failed at arguing so now you're lashing out, priceless. Go play with your barbie dolls kid.

LOLHIGHSCHOOLLEARNINLOL

It's whatever the f**k I learned over the course of every history class I was ever required to take.

Yeah but then it becomes your word, which quite frankly isn't very reassuring. I was simply asking for a direct quote for credibility behind your statement. Also, that is far from exclusively high school. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in college you are required to submit proof and embed quotes (paraphrased and direct quotes)in essays and research papers you write.

QUOTE
Sandra/Flair whoever the moses you are, maybe you should google it yourself and not laugh like a hyena and make other people feel like assholes just for posting in your post area.

I'm American, and I believe this. A lot of our (as a people, Americans) money came from tobacco and cotton. The rest of that came from textile factories later on (that payed very, very, very little). We still bring in loads of money from really cheap to free labor from illegals.

I'm hoping my History Book doesn't seem "very false to you".

Edit// When did I laugh at her contribution? Are we reading the same topic? And please, a little bit of respect is requested as I've not insulted you so far.

QUOTE
No, I was saying that you say one thing, and then act another. *You* are the one that I have been seeing going back and forth, trying to act like nothing compared, nothing compared...

But than saying "its not a game! blah blah blah!"

Hahaha. I'm not kidding. Re-read EVERYTHING I posted and tell me when I once mentioned that Black slavery was worse than the Holocaust. PLEASE!

Your lack of concentration is getting on my nerves.

QUOTE(Yobawhatever)
I'm pretty sure I just lost a whole buttload of respect for you right then.

Coughcoughjewscoughcough.

Enslavement is enslavement, I don't give a shit how many times you want to compare notes and make it a game to see who's got it the worse.

QUOTE(Sandra)
You know what I hate? When people compare. Why compare injustice? Asians were enslaved, that's horrible but it isn't the same as the Black slavery. You can't compare Holocaust to the Black slavery.
We are talking about BLACKS so I don't see where the need for comparaison comes in.

By the way, take a look at the last pages and tell me what I should say to Kimmytree who said that the Holocaust was worse than the Black slavery.

You're completely missunderstanding me. Completely.

Why would that matter or be relevant to the topic at hand? I'm not in college, I've never experienced college. Are you trying to reprimand me or something?

Either way, I was stating that I believed that the statement was true, not that my history book thought it was true. More like my history book gave me the facts and let me form my own opinion. You know, like I had a brain or something to think with.

Weird, I know.

Here are the facts:
. Slaves worked for free for a very long time/Whites got the money.
Link.

. Factory owners paid ridiculously low wages/Grew rich.
Link.

. Americans pretty much rely on volunteer (free) work and illegal (low, low pay, if they are lucky) work to re-build (as seen in New Orleans where Mexicans pretty much flocked there for work & 9/11 with volunteers).

I was laughing at the fact that she said 'we IS way off topic'. It IS funny. And I wanted to know how old she was because her grammar is really terrible. I mean, she's 16 and I find it to be quite sad.

I wasn't laughing at her contribution AT ALL.

Oh my. Just to be sure, do you understand my point about the 'comparing' bullshit? I'm beat.

Okay, factory owners paid low wages, but what does that have to do with blacks. Blacks primarily resided in the south, as the north was anti-slavery oriented. The people who suffered in these factories were not primarily black, nor were they slaves. If they were slaves, would they be earning wages?

Where the hell did you get the idea that I was trying to reprimand you? I was defending myself against your LOLHIGSCHOOLLEARNIN statement.

I'm not saying you don't have a brain. I'm saying that I would prefer proof from a credible source seeing as this is in the debate forum.

P.S. Wikipedia, while often correct in many things, is a terrible place to derive your argument from. Geocities is just as bad. Anyone can make a site and put anything on those.

QUOTE(Flair @ Jul 9 2007, 10:35 AM) *
YES, BLACKS HAD IT WORSE than the Chinese. I like how you say 'publicized' as if it Black slavery was some kind of a 'game'.

Note: the highlighted was a rant and isn't supposed to be taken seriously.

Just because it's a rant doesn't mean it's not your opinion :D And apparently, your opinion is that you do, indeed, like to compare and make things a game.

Grammar has nothing to do with the intelligence of a topic. If a person is dyslexic does it mean they are too stupid to participate in an online debate just because there spelling is off? Come on.

It doesn't have anything to do with blacks, lol. My whole point was just one sentence that I believe in. Flair asked.

That's where you're wrong. It isn't my opinion. It isn't what I think at all. I even said that. Stop trying to twist things ... really. I absolutely in no way think that Black people had it worse than the Chinese. That is absolutely ludacris.

Whaaat? Maybe you should read other debate topics and then you'll find out for yourself that she even got bashed because of her grammar. I DID NOT judge her intelligence AT ALL. Like I said earlier on, you're going too far. You're trying to fish for things that don't exist.

Not just my standards.
Not offended, it's the internets lolz.
Apology accepted.

Anyways. Blacks were helpful in the growth of our country, but it wasn't the sole reason or even a majority reason that the country is the way it is today.

What? I have nothing against you man. When you said that I assumed you meant it, I had no idea you were being sarcastic. You didn't say you were being sarcastic, you said you were ranting. I'm not sure why suddenly you think I'm some sort of word twisting manipulative bitch all the sudden, but I have to say, I'm really not.

I was just stating a fact. I'm not a fan of the grammar nazi stand. I may hate it when people type incorrectly, read: don't even try, but I have my own spelling issues to deal with, and usually, that makes people look down on me and disregard what I have to say. I wasn't pointing the finger, stop assuming I was.

Oh wow I can't believe I'm about to try to explain this. I feel the grip of racism clinging to my fingertips as I type these words.

Black people, in my high school at the very least (because obviously not all of them do) talk like that. Ebonics or some shit. They just do, it's just a fact. Some black people just talk differently.

Oh Christ. I think I just shit politically correctness all over this screen.

Seeing that all I know about the US is what I see on TV, I actually thought that all Black people in the USA talked like that. Let me tell you that I don't understand it. Really. Thank God for French and Dutch subtitles. I do not understand Ebonics.

You've got 'ebonics' in French too. The slangs are just too 'street' ... it's sad because it affects their writing.

Example: Je m'appelle Sandra turns into Jmapel sandra. Or Que voulez-vous turns into ke vlez vs. They write like that in class.

My God. It's so sad. Really.

I try kind of hard not to type any differently like I would in a paper. I only do it if I'm typing with one hand because my fatassed cat is lying on me or something.

Call it a dialect. English language, but spoken differently. Kind of like how New Yorkers talk different and Southerners talk different.

As long as you can understand what the person is saying, I don't even see the point of bringing it up.

Psh. Flair did it not me. Besides, it probably was best to bring it up sense she learned something new.
