QUOTE
A Republican student group in New York has sparked claims of racism by organizing a game called "Find the Illegal Immigrant".

Students will act as immigration officers in Thursday's game and try to find a student in a crowd designated with a badge as the illegal immigrant.

The game has sparked protests from other students with hundreds planning to demonstrate against it.

The New York University College Republican club denied it was racist.

It says the game is intended to raise awareness on immigration issues in the United States.

The winner of the game will take home a gift certificate.

I still don't know where I stand on this subject. This is either a very cunning political stunt the point of which I am missing completely, or else totally stupid. I will concede beforehand that yes, this is a novel idea. It's not a "racist" contest according to the information that we currently have, and it's not politically correct, which isn't a bad thing either.

However, one of the event organizers said: "You have to do something like this to get people's attention"; but what kind of people will it attract?

PS: I haven't been able to find any sources where someone labelled this event as "Racist"; yet the last half of the article I quoted is about the responsible Republican group explaining how the contest is not influenced by racial prejudices. O_o
