Okay, so my consolation from CBI1 was that I get to be a judge in the next competition. I'd like to get this going, if possible.

What I need to know from you guys:
  • Are you interested in participating as a contestant (this is VERY important considering the fact that we really didn't have may participants last time)? Participants from last competition are welcome, just no past winners.
  • Do you feel like we should do anything differently this time as far as organization, judging, and eliminations?
  • Do you have anything else to contribute? This includes possible prizes for the winner as well as any other ideas.
I'm still on my hiatus (homework, blech, see post in the Lounge), but while I'm away I'd like to see what people think and how many are potentially interested. If we round up enough interest from possible participants, we can decide on a schedule for when to get this started. If you have ideas for themes, please don't post them here in case it gets chosen, PM me instead. wink.gif

For reference, past threads:

Indeed

Maybe have a little bit longer to get entries in, if I recall correctly it was a little over a week last time. Maybe make it two?

I'm not interested in joining, because I'd like to remain a judge.

I know the time to get the entires in was short, but we did manage to get quite a few in after the deadline and we have extended the deadline MANY times.

I was a bit disapointed that it didn't really become that popular. (Probably because Entertainment isn't as active as say, the lounge or pictures.)

I enjoyed competing in the last competition, so I guarantee that I will be back for some more. happy.gif I'm up for it.

Perhaps to better organize things, a poll can be made to sort out all the votes. Judging...I like the idea of having the members vote for the winner and as for eliminations, I think that should be up to the judges as well.

Do you have anything else to contribute? This includes possible prizes for the winner as well as any other ideas.
I wouldn't mind making a banner or sending out the winner something as a gift of their accomplishments.

The thing with polls.. They're not really legit. And the problem with multiple accounts... I don't think I need to explain.

I think the banner or the gift is good. We kinda forgot to think of a prize last time.. sweating.gif

Yeah, that's the only problem I see with polls. pinch.gif I wouldn't mind chipping in for a small gift for the winner. Perhaps...a CD of the person's choice?

When is the deadline? I'm still considering joining this, but I'd like to know when the deadline is.

^Don't worry about the deadline just yet, when we get the contest started there'll be a thread in Entertainment with all the information.. At this point we're still working out the details. You should have plenty of time to join if you're interested, though. _smile.gif

... Oh yes! This could be practice for when i humilimate myself on public television in a few years ... Yeah? No, I'm kidding. Sure, I'd participate.

Agreed with above about the longer deadline times. I do believe that was the reason why I didn't enter last time ... Although, I didn't have a recording device handy either.

Do you have anything else to contribute? This includes possible prizes for the winner as well as any other ideas.
I would offer another subdomain, but that's a really strange prize for CB Idol of all things. Something really cool would be ... Like, a compliation CD of all their entries. I can print on CD's ... So it would look at least semi-professional. XD Yes, I am very odd.

Actually, it would be a good idea for a sub domain. thumbsup.gif They can use it for posting their songs that they sing, and etc. They can also use it for their personal website. XD.gif

Subdomain, I like that idea. Some place to store their songs.

Since keeping track of events that take place in 8 different threads can be difficult for those who are not into CBI from the very beginning, maybe creating a news board of sorts where the progress of the competition would be recorded could be a good idea.

It could be structured as a blog, with each entry being dedicated to the most rellevant events occured during CreateBlog Idol's progress; sound clips could be included too. It could even be used as written record in the future for reference to past editions of this contest, since it could be easier to check a blog than 8 different threads.

Also, I'd like to offer help with organizing CBI in case it's needed.

If you don't want to get complicated with ripping the voice track out of songs, you can use MIDI tunes as backup music although I know there were a capella entries in the past CB Idol contest.

I use this site when I want to find a particular tune in MIDI format :

http://www.harmony-central.com/MIDI/files.html

I bet there are many others around, though.

I may be interested.

Um, not really... I mean I don't see anything wrong with the one before.
Do you have anything else to contribute?
I'd be willing to contribute into the prize, but all I'm really good for is coding layouts, designing layouts etc. (design stuff)

Okay so we have Lucy, Jackie, Jane, Maggie, and Reili as being "interested" in participating. If you guys can confirm that you're interested in joining, I'll get a new contest going. Hopefully we can get more people involved, too.

The judges at this point are going to be Arjuna, Tina, and I, but we may add another one before we get the competition going. Depends on how much work we think might be involved.

^LOL It's okay, I didn't necessarily need a formatted response, that'll work. XD

As Jordi said, MIDI files tend to work just fine and are usually free. When I did CB Idol last time, I would go to google and type in my song name and midi and it'd usually be the first result.

Hm, I don't think I have time to enter this again,
though lemme tell you, it was a whole lot of fun.

I really wish I hadn't had to drop out at the end =(

But i'm more then willing to be considered as a judge if this ever
comes up again.
