the Rupert Grint one used to have this nice little haiku about him in the introduction. I guess they took it out though...

My teacher said that wikipedia isn't a reliable source because random people can add/delete information.

There are a lot of wikis that are not true. Everybody can edit them. Ok? So don't go expecting them to be true.

Well, that's the whole point of wikipedia; everybody can edit them so whoever has the correct information can edit it and make it more comprehensive. I consider wiki to be a competent source.

To be fair, though, I have seen some pretty weird pages on Wiki, but not so much that one comes to mind right now.

wikipedia is good for much information, but not actually credible - so don't ever use it to look up crucial information for papers, projects, etc...because anyone can just edit the information without it being looked over first =] hehheh.

One time in the library this kid I know was editting Wiki with a bunch of dumb stuff. Like typing in "He liked cookies a lot. And his mother" it was weird. Don't they have edittors who actually check through the info. to make sure someone's no abusing the site or writing profanities?

it is a good place to get a jumpstart on your reasearch to figure out what it is mainly about, but not a great place for a source, because anyone can add information, but they do have a moderating staff to edit the information.

haha, that's what people need to consider before using the info for something important [like a project of some sort].

i was looking up amy tan and they had random little weird edits in between. you could tell what was credible or not, though. (:
