yea I feel the bombing was justified. The US gave the Japanese way more than enough time to surrender prior to the bombing.

Of f**king course it was justified on our part. The Japanese wouldnt have surrendered, they would have fought for their homeland and caused enormously heavy casualties on both the US and the Japanese sides.
And, as a sort of testament to their no surrender spirit, after we dropped the first nuke on Hiroshima, they STILL didn't give up. It took another nuking and 70,000+ more casualties just for them to throw in the towel.

You have to admire their spirit though.

The point is is that we did give them time. When we dropped the second bomb it was not because they had not reached a decision, it was because they decided not to surrender.

No, the point is we did not give them ample time. There was no concrete decision to surrender or not; while the military favored a continued fight, some government officials favored surrender.

Furthermore, the entry of Russia into the war with Japan may have forced a surrender, or at least not required substantial US military intervention.

If your government DOES NOT recognize the fact that the US was NOT f**king around when it dropped the Hiroshima nuke, then that is something YOU have to deal with.
They got nuked once, they had a period where they had to overlook their stance and they decided they would NOT surrender, so we nuked some sense into them.

After the second bomb it still took about a week for them to surrender, so 3 days obviously wasn't enough.
