I'm sorry to hear about that. My friend tested positive for it too (this was freshman year) and she had to take pills or something. I don't think it's that bad, well I don't know.

I remember when I got the shot, it was weird. The bubble and all.

Well I hope it doesn't bother you much and everythings goes well.

Aww. sad.gif What are going to take as your treatment?

I remember I had to get a shot on each forearm when applying to volunteer at a hospital. :x I was told it would be a skin/scratch test. An injection is neither of those! mad.gif

Wow, deadly and infectious.

Oh! That test! No, I just got tested for it. I'm fine.

I'm sure it'll be fine. Doctors usually tell you the worst possible thing that could happen to you and half the time, it won't happen. They always do more tests and stuff, so I say to stay optimistic? And I don't mean to spoil your optimism, but is the disease that induces the victim to vomit blood? (like from Moulin Rouge)

Eat healthy.
Excerise to sweat to get rid of the body bacteria.

Fight against it.

GOD, you're so young for a disease.

Well...the good thing is--there's a cure!

In Moulin Rouge, set at the turn of the 19th century, Nicole Kidman plays Satine, a courtesan who looks great while suffering from a cough caused by consumption. The word "consumption" first appeared in the 14th century to describe any potentially fatal wasting disease--that is, any condition that "consumed" the body. But over time it came to apply more specifically to tuberculosis. While tuberculosis can affect many parts of the body, such as the bones or digestive tract, its greatest affinity is for the lungs. When actively infected people cough or sneeze, they spread droplets that can be inhaled by others. It usually takes prolonged contact to contract an infection, and even then the immune systems of healthy people can effectively contain the exposure. But in people with an active, late-stage case of TB, the lung tissue gets eaten away by rapidly expanding colonies of bacteria. Victims may experience weight loss, fever, night sweats, and coughing up of blood-filled sputum.

Yeah. There's tons of antibiotics for TB. And even if you test positive for the test that they administer (is it called a Hine test? Whatever. It's something like that... where they inject a needle in your forearm and yeah, like that...) it doesn't mean that you have TB DISEASE. TB INFECTION is when you have the bacteria in your body, but you aren't showing any symptoms and you are not contagious. Your body is able to keep the bacteria at bay.

It usually takes years for TB to take into effect, but it all depends on how healthy you are. If you're pretty healthy, you might not show symptoms for TB disease in over 7 years. But if not, you may come down with it fast.

And the coughing up blood thing comes from pulmonary arteries in the lungs. If you have pulmonary TB (which is the most common kind. Let's hope you don't have TB of the spine or lymph nodes), then your lungs basically get destroyed.

So, hopefully you don't TB Disease. Most likely, you only have TB infection, which is easily treatable. I know when I got that test done, I was slightly positive, but that's only because I had the BCG shot when I was born.

You probably don't have tuberculosis.. I tested positive this year too, but I had the x-ray thing and that tested negative. The PPD test isn't very accurate.
