I just watched 1 Litre of Tears after all the recs; I expected it to be a major sobfest what with all the comments like "I'm crying so hard right now" etc, except I didn't shed a tear and now I feel like a heartless bitch :(

why is it that the girl, or in this case guy/girl, often has an initial love/crush that is oh so cute and perfect but it doesn't work out and the girl always ends up with the more douchey guy who always pisses her off and creates tons of drama and shit.

ie: boys over flowers, coffee prince.

I couldn't even watch boys over flowers after having watched Meteor Garden and knowing that the girl wasn't getting with the cute shy guy :(

That reminds me of when I learned about attraction in Psych...to prepare for my exam, all I told myself was to remember everything I'd ever seen in a Korean drama HAHA

I learned that if someone dislikes you at first, and then begins to like you after a period of time, in the end you'll like that person a lot. More so than someone who liked you consistently. It's because you feel like you "earned" their admiration.

So it makes a lot of sense that the girl usually ends up with the douchebag because they end up liking them after hating them at first. PLUS like you said, it's a drama so obvs they're going to use the more complicated romance.

In Coffee Prince, that scene where she confesses really shows how they're not compatible - he's always thought of her as a little kid (he always calls her "that kid") and when she confesses her feelings he knows that all he can do is console her. So it's not like their relationship really started off on a good foot. How far are you in the series?

btw, I never liked the cute shy guys in Korean dramas. They seriously need to grow balls IMO, like Ji-hoo in BOF totally didn't do it for me. Lei in Meteor Garden was alright, but the cocky guy always has way more personality and attitude.

Did you think it was good, though? It's still one of my favorite J-dramas, not that I've seen all that many. Oh, and I only cried a little, if at all, so don't feel heartless. The whole "one liter of tears" thing is supposed to be how much Aya cries while going through her ordeal, not how much viewers should cry while watching the drama.

yeah, I originally thought it was just that their emotions were completely different but I just watched the part where he just kisses her and I was like LOL WTF.

haha maybe han-keol needs to grow on me a bit more. though (argh the names in coffee prince I can never remember) the music dude isn't quite shy, just...less cocky I suppose. but I love him in glasses.

I thought it was alright; I think I've just been numbed by all the "incurable diseases" storylines in dramas. Also, I think Aya's story itself is great, but by turning it into a drama and essentially creating drama: friends/classmates/parents of classmates was sort of a turnoff for me. All the blind ignorance and silliness sort of detracted from the essence of Aya's story. I just didn't like the triteness of the situations that occurred. I spent half the series thinking "are you forreals. students grades go down because they're helping her get to class on time????"

Haha Han-kyul totally grows on you - well actually I thought he was cute from the beginning.

Yeah that scene where the music guy (Han-sung, had to look that up ahha!) kisses her is soooo weird. By that time Eun-chan totally lost her feelings for him so that didn't work out. I don't mind that they're not together so much since he has Yoo-joo, who's pretty and not a bitch!

Well actually, the last time I watched Coffee Prince (for the second time) I skipped past all the Yoo-joo/Han-sung scenes because they were always really dramatic and annoying.

Japanese drama: Mei-Chan No Shitsuju. Although I have some jap blood in me, japanese drams doesn't get me. They are always often about the same things.

Chinese drama: they are too serious for me.

HK drama : E.U and such. Most of them are rubbish but I guess they are not that bad.

Taiwanese drama:

Korean drama:KOREAN PRIDE! :3 My Girls, Time Between Wolf and Dog. All those things. I don't know... maybe it's because I'm krn and that's why I'm so crazy over it. Either way, they are worth watching. And in case you guys know Boys Before Flowers, I think it's rubbish LOL.

OVERALL: IM NOT A DRAMA FAN :D

Asian movies suck, except for the occasional one but they're always heavy dramas. If you want the light-hearted chick flick types, you'll look to dramas (as you can tell, they're ineptly named).

Plus dramas have cute guys, and are at least 16 hours long and therefore 8 times longer than an average movie, so you've got good obsessing time.

Fell in love with Boys Over Flowers. I have relapses with that drama because it was so amazing. I get urges to watch it again every few weeks.

My first drama was If In Love Like Them/Perhaps Love (aka Lee Hyori's drama) it wasn't that bad and it was short but it followed your typical KDrama plot.
Happy -> Sad -> Find True Love -> Happy Some More -> Mad -> Death (lol if you don't get it then you should watch this)

My Sassy Girl (KMovie) was a great movie so was Nada Sou Sou (JMovie).
I also loved Sad Movie (KMovie) it lived up to the title and taught some really good life lessons.

I've gotten the urge to rewatch Hana Yori Dango because of Boys Before Flowers. You're talking about the Korean version, not the Japanese one, right?
