I think the font and sparkles contradict the mood that the picture in the rest of the wallpaper gives. I'd go one or the other, but the darker mood of the picture seems better with Hugh. That's my personal preference though, you could go either way. However, if you do remove the sparkles, make sure it doesn't too empty in there.
Also, I think there's a little bit of blue seeping in the purple version, near the bottom of the top portion. The two thick lines look a little sloppy as well. I think I also see some sparkle in Hugh's left eyebrow on the main portrait... Not too bad, but there's always room for improvement. |

The sparkle is gone.
The lines on the purple version look great, however, nothing seems to be changed on the blue version, except I think I see a purple scribble over where the sparkle used to be. |

^ The lines look great now.
This may or may not help, but you might want to consider calibrating your monitor so that you see more accurate colors. |

There are many ways to calibrate your monitor. The easiest, I suppose, would be if you have Photoshop, use Adobe Gamma that installs with Photoshop. If not, you could probably find something easy if you just search on Google.
For the most accurate results however, you would want to use something like Huey from Pantone. Of course, not completely necessary, it helps for graphic designers and photographers get accurate colors. |

I love the sparkles. Also I like how his eyes shine. The colors are nicely chosen, great job.

I like the blue version better, and I have to admit this looks really sweet! I love the middle part and I've always loved that guys eyes. AH, I don't know why but their very nice. The sparkles fit in almost perfectly between the pictures of him and I think you did a great job
