Weeee, okay guys sang tonight.
Overall, the guys are pretty weak this year. . .
hm. Too many of them sounded a like, and for the first hour or so of the show,
most of them really had no personality or greatness to their voices.

WHO I HATED
+ Brandon Rogers - blah, bland performance, don't like his voice either or his style. just blah.

+ Nicholas Pedro - no, his voice was so whiny to me, not sure why, but it was. [actually, most of the guys performances tonight sounded really nasally and whiny]. And I don't like his personality at all.

+ Sundance Head - no. no. no. Sorry. Never liked him, even during auditions. Just his voice was never really appealing to me. And his performance tonight? Horrid.

WHO I THOUGHT WAS OKAY

+ Chris Richardson - Can't really decide if I like him or not. Not too fond of his jumping-around-ness. He's not half that bad looking, he needs to grow his hair out though.
Not bad though. . . I'd like to hear him sing something else though, his voice wasn't that great. But there's something about him that is amusing.

+ Jared Cotter - Gotta hand it to him, he's kinda cute. Very smooth voice, very cool. I liked him, I mean, he was really chill. Still on the fence about him though.

+
Paul Kim - Yay, asian guy, haha. go asian guy with no shoes. lol. He was likeable, and I liked that he sang without shoes, his voice was decent, not like, "omg" or anything. I don't think he'll go too far, but i like him.

+
Rudy Cardenas - doesn't really stand out much, very pop sounding, but he wasn't that bad. I wouldn't mind seeing him back again.

WHO I LIKED

+ Aj Tabaldo - really fun, loved his personality, he's got a great voice as well. Smooth and upbeat. Not too bad.

+ Blake Lewis - I could hear his voice on the radio, very contemporary and such. Loved hearing him sing actually, kinda unique. Liked his hair. And a beatboxer? psh, that's awesome.

+ Sanjaya Malakar - aw, so cute. 17, and i'm sorry, i disagreed with the judges on this one. Before him, NO ONE was singing on key. And his voice is so smooth and bright, really like it a lot actually. And yeah, he is the shy one of the group, but he's got great potential at 17. The judges were way too harsh. His pitch was good.

WHO I LOVED

+ Chris Sligh - loved this guy, lol. His sense of humor is great actually, and his voice. holy crap, who knew that voice could come from him? Very mature sounding voice, natural. And hello, actually sang on key [which most guys didn't tonight], one of the better singers so far, by far.

+ Phil Stacey - loved his voice as soon as he hit that chorus. I mean, yeah, the beginning was shakey. But really, he's got a really nice voice. Amazing blue eyes, please grow out the hair, please. It worked for Daughtry, not you. And I mean, he's the closest thing that we have to a rocker this season. I'm pretty disappointed there weren't any rockers up there. sigh, but he's close enough I guess. I just would prefer if he grew out his hair, but his voice sounds great.

God, that was ROUGH...

Sundance, please go away, you don't deserve to be in the top 24 in the first place. Buh-bye.

To be honest, I could happily get rid of nearly all of them. Please let the girls be better...

Well, the girls were better then the guys. Thank God.
But still, it'll be really easy to elimate 6 of the 12.
There wasn't that much talent up there.
But there were a few girls up there that really could sing.
Just wish the judges this year picked less pop-ish voices

WHO I HATED

+ Antonella Barba - Stay on pitch much? She's really pretty though, and if she actually sang the right notes, i might of heard what she sounded like. And yes, Paula, she did do bad.
God, and what's with all the pop voices this year?

+Alaina Alexander - She was okay, her voice was nice. Just another pop voice to me, i swear i've seen so many girls that look just like her and have that voice. She just didn't stand out too much to me. She's cute though. A lil pitchy on her runs.

WHO WAS OKAY

+ Amy Krebs - I like the tone of her voice, it's reallly light and easy to listen to. Not an amazing voice, and her performance wasn't that great. But I like her tone.

+ Leslie Hunt - Her performance wasn't bad, but i'm not a huge fan of her voice. But she seems like a unique person.

WHO I LIKED

+ Stephanie Edwards - Her voice wasn't like omg, but her attitude,
personality, and her performance in general was really great.
She really acted it out and was in touch with her song. She did great

+ Sabrina Sloan - Her performance was great, and it was a really good song for her. Her personality shined through. But she was too sharp on some notes, and when she hits certain notes her voice can get reallly nasally. I mean, her voice isn't a favorite of mine, and her personality wasn't that great, but i give her props for really picking a good song.

+ Nicole Tranquillo - I liked her, the only reason she isn't in my "loved' catagory, is simply because there is something about her voice that doesn't sit well with me. There were a few notes that i was impressed with, but she . . . I dunno. . i wasn't sure. But I loved the fierceness and aggression of her performance. Her lower range i'm not too fond of, but whenever she hits the higher notes it sounds better. . .

WHO I LIKED ALOT AND ALMOST LOVED

+ Gina Glocksen - Her voice is great, powerful, great vibrato, and she seems unique and has style. I liked her, and she was passionate. Didn't seem just like another dumb, ditzy blonde jumping around and being all pop and all. But her voice is suprisingly big and powerful. She was great, like her alot.

+ Haley Scarnato - Loved her tone, and her vibrato was beautiful. One of the few that actually had vibrato. A wee bit pitchy, but Her voice is beautiful, and I loved her because she wasn't a pop voice. That's probably the only reason why I love her, because she isn't like the rest of them and screaming in these nasally pop voices. god. But she has an amazing voice, and it could of been really great, but she still has a long way to go, but she's got potential.

WHO I LOVED

+ Jordin Sparks - Her voice is pretty great, one of the stronger ones of the girls, and i can't believe she's so young. She did great, and has a beautiful smile actually. one of my favorite girls so far.

+ Melinda Doolittle - amazing voice holy crap. Such a natural, such a powerful singer, and hello, sang on pitch =) She's really a great performer as well, and her runs are amazing.

+ LaKisha Jones - Wow, such a powerful-strong voice. And she sang that song from Dreamgirls, Jennifer Hudson song.
I don't like how she sang, "meeeee". For some reason I like Jennifer's voice more when she sings, "meeeehhhhh". Just sounds better. But wow, she sounds amazing. She'll be here for a while. Great. AND shes' from Maryland about 30 min drive from here. Heeyyyy,

^^

you basically got my list down.

i agree with you on the whole thing, especially with antonella. if she wasn`t decent *vocally* and pretty, she would`ve been gone long ago.

jordin sparks - young and talented. didn`t showcase her vocal talent too much tonight, but i bet we`re gonna see a lot more from her in the future.
melinda jones - your time in the background is up. it`s time for you to shine. seriously. you are amazing.
lakisha jones - worthy.gif they definitely saved the best for last.

I really, really like Sanjaya Malakar. I think he's such a sweetheart... I just want to give him a biiiiig hug. I really don't know why, kind of wierd, but I do. He makes me grin _smile.gif aaaaand I hate Sundance. Why the hell is he there?

And damn, those black girls can sing. None of the white girls make an impression on me, really. Antonella is gorgeous, and she does have a beautiful voice. Her song choices are terrible, and it's a shame because I think she would have more potential if she had better songs. I didn't really pay any attention to the other girls.

You know, it's funny how I'm the one who is supposed to be gay, and yet you're the one speculating on my sexuality.

Stop projecting.

Oh, and I would rather not go through the whole ludicrous and tiresome process of you breaking rules, me punishing you, and then you claiming to be a victim of bias, so why don't we skip it, and you just stop while you're ahead?

Oh, and also, I still love Gina Glocksen.

he`s very likeable IMO. he was cheering the loudest last night for the girls.

the judges once told Sundance *i agree with whoever said it sounds like a casino name* that he sang through his nose. he also shouts. just because his dad had his 15 minutes of fame back in his days doesn`t mean that he`s going to top that off.

The Top 12 will be:

Guys: Chris Sligh, Chris Richardson, Phil Stacy, Blake Lewis, Brandon Rogers, and either Sanjaya Malakar, Sundance Head, or an outside shot at Jared Cotter

A.J. and Nick are frankly forgettable, and I wouldn't be surprised if they went next.

I really, really liked Phil's performance once he hit the chorus, and took off like that. If he keeps going like that, he'll easliy make the Top 12.

Chris Richardson was a really pleasant surprise for me. I thought he was fun, and different in that he didn't make me want to go to sleep. I had to watch with my eyes closed, however, as the bizzare bobbing thing was making me want to break his kneecaps.

Blake is my favourite of the guys at this stage. Good song choice, and not a complete copy of the original. Kudos.

Brandon sang a dull-ass song, but I think he'll do well, he certainyl CAN, at least, and he has the fanbase to take him to the Top 12 if he gets his game on.

Frankly, I think Chris Sligh is a dickhead, but everyone else seems to love him. The thing with the Teletubbies was just... lame. It seemed like he'd thought of it like, a week before, and was just dying to say it... And Simon was right, what is more. But he's a lock.

As for the last spot, well, Jared was the best of the three I mentioned earlier, but i think a fanbase thing will push through one of the other two. Frankly, if Sundance continues to appear on my screen wit that GODAWFUL beard, I'm going to have to harpoon him, so let's call it for Sanjaya and label him the new Kevin Covais.

*****

Girls-

This is a LOT harder to call.

I'll say that Gina, Lakisha, Jordin, and Melinda are locks.

They were all above average, and have fan bases, so they should do well at this stage. The only way I see any of them slipping is if the Lakisha/Melinda vote split I foresee somes into effect sooner than I expect, but barring that, safe.

Stephanie and Sabrina OUGHT to take two of the other spots, but I'm worried that there might be a vote splitting thing, so I'm hesitant to call it for them both. From what we've seen so far, I'd call it for Sabrina.

So that's 5 spots, and it leaves us with Haley, Stephanie, Antonella, Alaina, and Leslie.

I'll rule out Alaina right off. She is just not up to par, and unless she improves drastically, she's gone next.

I'd say no to Haley as well. She was pretty good, but frankly, i don't remember her that well. I haven't the faintet idea what she sang, other than remembering hat it was ok. She needs a real standout performance to get votes going, or she will be sharing a taxi with Alaina.

So... Stephanie, Leslie, and Antonella.

It ought to be Stephanie, and I'm rooting for my Georgia girl!

Leslie oozes likeabiltiy for me, and if she picks up on song choice, maybe busts out some Norah Jones, she may pull an upset. But not likely.

Now... Antonella. I actually didn't despise her performance, and I REALLY liked her for asking the judges what she could do better, rather than trying to back-chat and losing a battle of wits to Simon (ahem... CHRIS SLIGH). If she takes on board what he says about song-selection, her fans (and she CLEARLY has them, to pull her through after that panning) will back her up.

Now... I'm not sure. I think Leslie is least likely. And it depends where the other two go. Can't call it.

****

So, if I'm right, we ought to have a Top 12 of: Blake, Brandon, Chris R., Chris S., Gina, Jordin, Lakisha, Melinda, Phil, Sabrina, Sanjaya, and either Antonella or Stephanie

We'll see how I do.

Controversy over Antonella Barba's past means she may be disqualified from the competition.
