[b]heres the problem, when i type my font and copy it..i try to paste it into a new image so it can get a border and it keeps saying: a error has occured while trying to read the file. ive tryed everything to try to fix it...like restarting, re-installing. i need serious help!

uhh... when you type it >> flatten the image and then paste it. o_o then it would be more of a image than a font typing.

If you're trying to paste TEXT on there, then it won't work. If you've selected the text as a vector, it should work.
