everyone has a passion, something they devote their love and lives to. not everybody realizes they have this passion, but everybody has one. after time, it becomes their child, something they care for and tend to.
whether you immerse yourself in the harmony of the orchestra or feed on the adrenaline of a three thousand foot dead drop, the passion is there. always, you feel alive and you are grateful to be privileged enough to do what you love. love what you do, and it will love you. people spend their entire lives honing and perfecting their crafts because they become gods through their skill. somebody asked me why i go to the gym all the time. weightlifting is my craft, and i love it. the gym is my second home, every inch of it is sacred. the gym is my church, my synogogue and my temple. it's where i feel alive. i can step into another world to become a god. i feel at home. i love the bustle of the gym. the soft whirr of machines and crunch of iron is a heavenly score, written for me alone. the grunts and roars of fellow struggling soldiers is an encouragement. movement, strength, resisting gravity is our game. we are the only competitors. we are the only winners, and we are the only losers. the battlefield is our bodies, relentlessly testing our boundaries. our bodies are also our prizes. there is no first place and there is no last place because they are the same thing. you are always pushing, pushing yourself, pushing for one more plate, pushing for one more set, pushing your bodies to the limit because the spoils of war are glorious. we dare to duel gravity. ~~ This was written back in September this year - don't give me any grief about the capitalizion, please. I like it like this. |
