Well, I got GIMPshop. And I love it. :D Now I can make graphics again.

So this is what I have so far. What should I add to it? Or should it stay like that? I'm probably going to add text (asian blossom?), but I'm looking for a good font.

The braid on the right looks a little more blurry than the other one, and it looks a little stiff.

Washing out is a good idea.

Ok!

Hm...washed out? Do I just add a white layer and lower the opacity?
Sorry, I'm new at this banner thing. (and reili, i'm making a banner but i might turn it into a layout. *shrug* i'd have to find out how to do that though.)

And about the braid thing: that's part of the original image.

reili, where did you get those fonts? I like the eight fifteen one.

But Eight Fifteen is my favourite font! XD You don't wanna know how I got CK Bella. I can send it to you if you like though.

To wash out, I usually desaturate the top layer and lower it to around 40% opacity. Like so:

But the white works too... It just looks more like this:

BUT! Since you're making a banner, may I suggest someting more like this:

Using brushes from a place like here. Kimono pattern ones. Although I suggest making the brushes black at first so you can see where you're putting them.

Can't you just rename the file to .gbr? I think that works.

Anyways, I love it Krista - Dezhen is the best artist ever, btw.

thanks! :D

Hm....tried that, but it didn't work. Maybe I'm not doing it right.

I saved it to the disk, and it popped up on the desktop. From there, I right-clicked and selected rename, but all it renames is the title.

There a program that does it for you, I believe.

And to rename the extension of a file, you need to configure your system to do so.

Ok, so I successfully renamed it. Then I cut it and pasted it in the GIMPshop brushes. I refreshed the brush list, and it said there was an error and it didn't work. So, then, I turned it into a compressed folder and unzipped it in the GIMPshop brushes. That didn't work either. So how do I fix that?

That's a really good question. Maybe GIMP is more complicated when it comes to renaming brush files.

Ok, well I added a big brush on the left side. I think it looks better. Where else should I add brushes? Or does it look fine now?

cry.gif I want that top. It doesn't look bad right now. I'd make the text more pronounced. Right now, you can hardly see it. At least... I didn't notice it as first. Position it differently and add whatever effect you want. As for the side brushes, I'd make them more interesting. Perhaps change the colors of some of them to pink but leaving them at their unique opacities.
