I just finished making a layout for my friend and I's web comic Toaster Ninjas. Check it out and tell me what your think.

It was my first layout that I really worked hard on.

For your first div I'd say it's pretty good. Everyone has to start somewhere.
I don't really care for the splatters, I feel they don't fit and they're cut off by the layout image (the white), just personal taste though.
I think it's unnecessary to have the "likes" in scrollboxes. And why three random ones?
Eh, maybe add more style to it. But good for a first thumbsup.gif

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad to hear you liked it.

Honestly, I questioned the splatters myself, but couldn't come up with a better alternative. A flat color seemed too plain to me. If you've got any ideas, I would love to hear them.

The likes are in scroll boxes so they don't cover too much of the image behind them. The three random ones are dislikes which we add to with new episodes. When they have 5 they will be put into scroll boxes as well. At least that's what I plan on doing.

I pondered whether or not to make the likes/dislikes area a flash animation where they are just photos until you roll over them. I thought that it would take the page too long to load and people wouldn't want to wait for it. Do you think I should try that anyway? It would almost certainly add more style to it.

Again, thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I really like your idea of making it a picture until you scroll over it. Maybe add a word or two to the images so people know to hover them. I have dialup and the layout the way it is now took no time to load, so I think if you added that little feature it wouldn't take too long to load.
As far as the splatters, I think if you added little features like the rollovers it would add more style to it and you could go with a solid color. Just my opinion though.

Layout is interesting. The colors are alright. The blood splats ( I think thats what it suppose to be ) is random.

But nice job though.

Alright, so I changed the likes/dislikes section. I still haven't decided on the splatter though.

^ That looks a lot better :) the images are clearer. I'm really bad at flash.
Yeah, just out of personal taste I don't care for the splatters, they're kinda gawdy (no offense)

For a first, pretty good.

The background image looks a little odd. To be honest, color wise and the positioning of everything though I think you did really well. And content wise too.
