Problems with my boyfriend's code., Can't make the text underlined,can't align it or anything. Options

Ok in my boyfriends code, what I don't understand is, none of the text goes bold. I tried changing the font weight but it doesnt do anything. I put underline next to the message me and add links but it goes all weird and doesn't show the text so it took it off. And the Add Me underlines when you hover but the Message Me doesn't. All the films & such text is hidden so is the blogs & extended network. Buut in the interests section all the text is in the center. And I checked through the code and took out all the text-align: center in it, but, it didn't make a difference.. It's good because all the interests headings like films and all that are hidden,so then heroes is hidden when you have the about me box moved up. But I still want to be able to have the headings, ive typed them in and tried to align them to the left, but it doesn't make a difference.. There's just the table and a huge gap and then all the etxt is in the center.. I don't get it lol it's so frustrating... I tried to make the etxt bold and underline for the headings but noo it didn't work. It's weird...
