So today, at school, I was sent to the office and was informed that I could no longer play volleyball because I did not complete 100 community service hours by August 25th. Now I am put on Community Service Probation until those 100 hours are in. Some of my friends were like... "wtf just lie and have someone sign them!" But I don`t know anyone cool enough to sign them for me. fallen.gif So i guess my question is if this has ever happened to anyone else, or if you people even have to do community service hours where you are?
Please move this if it belong somewhere else, this is random to me tho...

I have something like community service hours..
It's called service credits. I have to do it for ARISTA. It's easy though.. All you have to do is get a teacher and work for them during lunch, before school, or during parent-teacher conferences.

Oh, and about the signing thing.. If you have like a relative or someone who's a lawyer or doctor or something, you could always ask them to sign for you :)

but none of them are doctors/lawyers. even if they were, it would have to be a non profit organization that they work and blablabla _dry.gif

i had to do 30 hours of community service in order to graduate and it was pretty easy... though the weeks flew by quick so i didnt know how i can make up 30 hours in only 2-3 weeks [i was too lazy to do it, so i ended up doing it last minute] -- well thank God i had bball practices every saturday, b/c while practicing i got to make them up! [including school days]

We don't have to to be on a team but we do have to go to summer training for football which I am sure most people have to too. How many have you done?

WTF? community Service? I have never heard of people having to do that to play sports or graduate. the only community service hours I've ever heard of was for people in scouts and people in jail. I was in scouts...not jail though. Thats crazy!!

For my high school, at least 40 hours of community service is mandatory in order to graduate. Volunteering is big here. I was at the school for two years so I needed a minimum of 20 hours but I was a prefect so it wasn't that hard for me.

Are there any public events going on in your community? You could always ask to volunteer there.

Wow..you guys do a lot more community service hours than us. We only have to do 40, and we have to get them done before graduation, otherwise we can't graduate, because it's one of the requirements for graduating.

Maybe volunteer at the local library or something..I don't know. ermm.gif

There's this thing in my middle school, if you like get 90's and above on all your subjects you're put into this honor society thing and you have to like give an amount of hours to help the school. mellow.gif

oh sorry I didn't spell one of those words right pinch.gif

I'm sorry this happened to you though, hope you get the hours..

There's only like 10 hours mandatory for freshmen, but volunteering es muy gigante aqui. The fight for Club of the Year is like, major. We have our meetings during lunch, and before Club Day, the school is full of people during lunch. And then after Club Day, everyone is in a classroom attending a meeting, it's actually kind of fun. But for sports, not much is mandatory, especially community service hours. We have enough trouble finding players that fulfill the gpa requirement. ermm.gif

Hm.. I don't remember if it's still required for my high school.
But like when I was a freshman for my high school. They said I have to do community service before I graduate high school.

But I don't hear anyone doing community service and they still graduated o_____________________o;;

But I did some service credit like help out teachers clean the room or like help special ed students^__^

The high school I graduated from requires twenty hours of community service to graduate.

The first high school I went to required fifty. *shrug* It's not uncommon.

School, maybe?

My school also requires 40 hours of community service in order to graduate. My friend's cousin only need 20 hours at her school. =/

I have about...3 so far. But I lost the paper thing we have to record them on, so I'm basically back to zero.

I'm a sophmore and I'm pretty sure I have somewhere around 100-150 hours at least. But only because my mom works at a hospital and I voluteer there. It was really easy because all I did was walk around and talk to the little kids because I was in the uhm...pediatric area.

By the way, for all you from California, is it true you need like at least 200-300 hours just so your college application can be considered at a UC and/or CSU school? I keep on hearing that, and really, I have no problem doing the hours, I just don't want to have all of them, then realize we only needed like...100. _dry.gif

My school requires those community service hours too, especially for IB, 150 CAS hours. I just join clubs and participate, those would get me those hours.
