Haha, I had this group of friends all throughout high school that I use to hang out with all the time and we'd chat and gossip about boys, you know, the whole thing. We'd sit together at lunch and have deep conversations and all that and invite each other to parties and help one another find cute guys to go out with.
Sounds like the basic friendship right? Well, the truth is, none of us really liked each other. We'd all act all nice and friendly, but when one girl left the table, we'd all start talking about how we hated her, and when another girl left, we'd do the same thing. We'd talk in the hallways during passing breaks between classes and once we went our seperate ways we'd have these digusted looks on our faces like, "Why the hell am I friends with this girl?!" It's like Mean Girls, almost. I tried to find out why we hung out with one another even though we couldn't stand each other and I think it's because we were all military kids, going to a school off-base so I guess we thought we had to stick together since we didn't really have that much in common with the non-military kids. After I realized the reason, I decided to move to a new state with my dad and get away from fake people because I realized I wasn't even happy with any of those girls. I only keep in touch with 2 people up there, since we were friends since Middle School. But I was wondering if any of you have had a situation like this? Maybe not as extreme as having fake friends but maybe a smaller situation, perhaps. |

Hm, it's sorta like that for me, but not really. There's this girl I dislike that hangs out w/ my friends & me, & none of us really like her. I usually just try avoiding talking to her.
As for everyone else, I try not to lead someone on into thinking that we're really friends. Instead, I just usually avoid them until they get the message. Harsh, I know, but it works. |

it's usually people you find that have some similarities to you but not enough to make you actual friends. although you may hang out together, you're still nothing more than acquaintances.

I don't really have a "clique".
It's basically the a group of cool kids that I hang out with because we're so different and diverse and we're so similar, like the way we joke around and everything. I guess it's like a big ol' group of best friends. |

Yes, I used to have that. Verrrrry messed up situation... we'd constantly get into fights but never break away from each other because I guess being part of a big group of friends, going out to hang out with each other made us feel good about ourselves. I stopped hanging out with them my freshmen highschool year to find real friends. =) |

if they were alone with me i would have nothing to say to them because they werent real. but never really any close relationships like you mentioned. |

Never really been in a situation like that, mainly because I was soo popular at high school and most people got along with me. There were a few people/friends and situations where friends would back chat me. I don't care though, actions speak louder then words they say, but in those few cases it was the other way round.
