Really Huge Problem!! Cant edit text!, The text in my layout is all the same size! Options

Here is my problem:
I want to get different text sizes for different things. For example, when you have the over lapping text lines. I made the texts in the code and all, but they don't show up. It just comes up as if it were normal text in my layout. Also, I tried moving my display name in my layout to the center top. It moved, but the text was the same size as the text in my layout, not as big as I wanted it to be. Its like no other font or font size can be used.
