I need a good auditioning song. I'm going out for another musical and all good auditioning songs have slipped my mind. I've considered the star spangled banner and all those american songs, and Doe a deer, and happy birthday but I'm looking for something good for a 1st alto - 1st soprano range.

? (:

First of all, what musical are you auditioning for? You need to pick an audition song that will show your range, but also kinda fit with the show you are auditioning for.

For instance, I'm auditing for Joseph in a few weeks. I would need to pick something upbeat because most of the songs in the show for ensemble have that upbeat feel to it. If you were auditioning for a Rodger & Hammerstein's play, you would do best to pick another song they wrote for a different show. Say you were trying out for "South Pacific", it might be good to audition with a song from the "Flower Drum Song."

SO, what musical are you auditioning for?
I suggest you audition with a song from an actual musical.
Though I would stay clear of the really popular stuff now like Wicked, RENT, Avenue Q, etc...

Guys and Dolls. I was thinking of that but I don't think I am. I might do Only Hope by Mandy Moore, It's been my audition song since 8th grade and it's always rendered good results so maybe it's lucky (:
