Not letting me view the source. Options

The title pretty much explains it.

Everytime I try to view the source of a page, it won't open. Nothing happens. No Wordpad nor Notepad or anything. I'm using AOL Explorer, but I've tried regular Explorer too. Nothing. Gah.

I really needed to view the source of my older site to fix a problem I have with my current one. But noooooooooooo.

I hate computers sometimes.

Open up the file in an html editor, such as frontpage.

How..? & I don't think I have Frontpage. Wouldn't Wordpad work fine?

Sure. Try setting the default application for html to notepad.

Well, it was already on Notepad, so I switched it to Microsoft Word. Still nothing.

Maybe I should get Firefox & see what happens?

yea firefox, usually works, but if you disabled the right click stuff, it usually doesn't work on any computer

& No, Firefox is GROSS. =P I remember that it never properly displayed my webpages correctly & it angered me.

Firefox is gross? What is wrong with you? And I remember that problem happening to me before on IE. I got Firefox and never looked back. Well, occasionally to compare what my layouts look like in it. But other than that..

Well I already told you why I think it's gross, but if no one else can come up with a different solution I guess I'll try that..

Edit: Okay, so it did work, but my god, my MySpace page looks atrocious on Firefox. { cries }

&, since pages show up different on Firefox than anywhere else, wouldn't that change the HTML you see in the source?

No. The code itself stays the same, but different browsers have different ways of rendering the code.

Incidentally, Firefox is actually more compliant with standards than IE, but some pages use IE-only coding; those pages only show up properly in IE.

As for MySpace, well...I thought MySpace looked atrocious on any browser.

But is there any way that you can make your webpage look exactly how you want it on IE & Firefox?

I still wish I could know why I can't view the source on AOL Explorer or IE, but oh well..

Generally, yes. I've never actually had any problem with it on my site. Usually if you make sure your (X)HTML and CSS is compliant, the page will look the same across browsers. With a few things, IE doesn't render them correctly (even if the page is compliant), but it's not that common.
