We just can't really go through every official designers because we don't have a list of all the official designers :

On the topic of cB Layouts having gone to the dogs, how does everyone feel after the House Cleaning project? I'm curious if the issue of quality still exists? (I'm sure it always will to an extent as taste and opinions differ, but overall).

In general? Better.

The house cleaning threads in each of the resource forums could stand to be unpinned/deleted. wink.gif

Also, question--do design moderators only look at the screenshot before accepting a layout, or do they actually make sure that the coding is valid? I ask because while the screenshot appears perfectly fine, the coding for this particular skin is.. pretty bad to the point where if you use the provided coding as is, the layout doesn't show up. :\

As far as I remember, design mods can click on the preview link to see if the layout really works, and whether it matches with the screenshot or not.

Typically, yes. The designers will go through the code and will not approve a layout based on screenshot. If something gets missed, that's unfortunate but bound to happen, I suppose.

Thanks for the link, Anna.

It looks fine in IE for me...

Yeah, we click the layouts to make sure it actually works - there were a bunch that no longer worked because the blog went through a slight re-coding after it was submitted.

Like I said in that thread, come time to insert coding and view it on an actual livejournal, it does not work in either browser. Case in point: http://aznhellbringer.livejournal.com Mkay? 'kay.

Sometimes you have to have a website listed in your profile deal. Do you?

It doesn't work because it's made for Greatest Journal. Sure the coding looks the same but i'll be somewhere somehow LJ coding vs. GJ coding is different.

GreatestJournal is based off of LiveJournal because LiveJournal is an open source project, but apparently it allows screwed up coding. :( Background doesn't appear on FF, but looks fine in IE on GJ (http://totalkaos.greatestjournal.com). Boo.

Okay. It doesn't work. For livejournal. In both IE and FF.

So we should delete it then?

Hmm.. Well, cross-browser compatible or not, this layout is pretty default for a livejournal skin and I'm not fond of the image work. =\ No offense to the designer, but I'm gonna say it needs to go.

How about, "If you don't like the layouts, don't use them!"
You can't tell me that none of you thought of that? Or are you just that stupid?

cB USERS are going to the dogs. >.>

We still want to keep it at a good quality. Even if we don't personally like the layout (ie: I hate anime layouts) we don't reject something on personal preference, only on quality.

Yes everyone can start somewhere, on their own xanga. That's what you can do to practice. Most designers did that as well.

I didn't want to start a new topic... so I hope you guys don't mind me bumping this up.

^ I find this Xanga layout quite default. It's not in the minimal section. I was just wondering it got accepted.

^nah its perfectly fine, happy.gif

Eh I don't really accept xanga layouts since I don't know much behind it, I know most of the time graphically their not that great I'll try looking at the layout you put a link up for if this computer will let me pinch.gif

EDIT//

I find the xanga layout perfectly fine, it may be a bit defaultish but whats wrong with that? The colors are changed and the image above the tables is pretty and theres nothing really wrong with it. Perhaps wait for a xanga staff though.

^ The left module is left completely intact.
If you look at the other xanga layouts, you'll get what I mean.

I like this layout, I didnt accept it, but I probably would've if I had seen it in the queue.
It may be default, yes, but the colors are great, and the banner looks really nice (also good quality).

Some default layouts are okay to accept, and long as they look good.

I accepted that one, and I agree with kara. Xanga layouts, like Myspace layouts, can look good with the default template.

i notice not all the layouts are going to be perfect do to people using different browsers and operating systems, that always gets on my nerves. i think cb should invest in a program like browsercam before they accept any layouts.

i also think iff you use images from google the site that you get it from should be linked as well

Alrighty then.

Yea, I agree with Heather that some emphasis should be put in credit for images/brushes etc on layouts.
