It's different for different people. Usually, it's expected to hurt unless you've already broken your hymen before (even without having sex). You can break your hymen doing rigorous activities; maybe while doing something like horseback riding or gymnastics.
Really, it just depends. For some girls, it hurts a lot and for others they don't feel any pain. |

A lot of people believe that if you have already torn your hymen it isn't going to hurt.
I know this sounds sick, but your vagina has elasticity. (Which is why a woman who isn't a virgin but goes a long period without having sex will sometimes notice a different when they start again). If you've never had something penetrate you before, it will probably hurt. I wish I had something better to compare it to, so it could be better understood. Basically: If you're vaginal opening has never been stretched out, there will be some discomfort. |

for some people it hurts because they have a little problem with their hymen getting broken

it differs from person to person, although if your nervous about it its not going to be the greatest expierence..and if you use tampons or what Sarah said earlier and your hymen is torn already then it probably won't hurt so much
