^ we could 'ex-communicate' members who spam

It just be loads of fun late at night. I don't see why it can't be a new TLN

if people don't have decent things to post about now, why would they suddenly become more insightful with the addition of a number?

These "fun" theories are altogether too optimistic. People here can't aactually handle things, as proved by the leniency experiment.

Really. I don't see the need for all this discussion just on whether it should be started or not. True, there were problems last time but as Jusun so nicely puts it: "sometimes things need to be revisted and retalked. its part of everyday life."

We'll see how this one goes. Hopefully it will be handled differently but if there is no real discussion within the team, then it will be closed. Simple.

It's something people can participate in and if there are many people willing to join, then why stop them?

Edit\\
I think a few large clubs should be started to get the community going... though, clubs/teams with a real purpose. It doesn't mean that anyone wishing to start a club can do so.

krista, i meant annoucing the leniency rule publicly. textbook error.

well, to be honest nicki, i dont think that the fact that you dislike them is a valid reason to stop them exising, nor do i think your arguments other than that are particularly strong. im sorry.

I think it's a fair statement he made. What he meant was having threads brought up from the past and if need be, continue it by making a new thread. Remember how people would bitch about others bringing up dead topics? It applies a bit here as well.

actually, i havent heard anyone ask for it back specifically.

and i just read this

QUOTE

and i really do disagree here. while the clubs dont BOTHER me, i think it is silly to think that they will actually be helpful in getting the community going. the people who join clubs are already friends with each other for the most part, as with TLN last time in chat. it really just defines the cliques.

frankly, i dont care, because i have my group of friends im happy with that, an i would rather see the spam boxed up neatly in one thread, but purposely starting clubs to promote the community is not going to work.

let them happen if they happen, but dont encourage them outright, or it WILL get out of control, as with leniency. people will create stupid 'rico is a paedo' style clubs (sorry, rico), and then complain when they are closed because 'the mods said they were allowed'

it will be leniency rule take two.

Er... perhaps I should have worded it differently. I don't think clubs should be started for the sake of having clubs. If someone wants to create a club (that isn't meaningless) then the mods will allow it. A club like "rico is a paedo" would be closed instantly. Besides, if there are valid objections for a club that has already been started then it can be closed. That really isn't a good example. What would you talk about? How Rico is a pedo? It is meaningless, not to mention bashing. If the club starter complains about his/her club being closed, well, they'll have to live with it.

TLN's purpose: Keep cB goin through the night hours - stimulate posting from other members - being active in every part of the community - ......even if it means spamming in the sandbox...

that was the point. there would be nothing to talk about. mindles spam for the sak eof it, because clubs were 'allowed'.

What I mean is we could be selective of the clubs.

mmm.

but i would imagine that that would induce resentment of the mods, if certain clubs are not selected.

ah well. que será, será

i dont mind what happens with them. but then again, i was never hugely bothered by the masses and masses of spam, so there you go.

my final statement is that i dont care.

As much as I love that CBNews is coming back, I honestly think this desperate attempt to bring back "CB's glory days" is going to backfire. Why can't we come up with new experiences and ideas, rather than the same ones everyone knows? CB has many chapters to be written, I don't want to reread the old ones.

I honestly think Team Late Night shouldn't be re-opened. As for clubs, sure, as long as they provide a good course of discussion and the leaders are active. There should be guidelines, maybe even qualifications to make your club a "CB official club". Even a separate forum for clubs just for that discussion. It would help people meet other CBers who like (or dislike) the same things.

The only thing about that, though, is that that's basically why we have interests forums. If you like boosk, discuss them in individual threads there. You don't need a topic in a club forum to do all the book discussing.
