Sorry, it only works when your image isn't a link. Like if its not a link it will be black or white etc.
Example: http://myspace.com/poopietest
Black = non link. Blue = link.

I kinda have an idea but I don't know if it would work.
Like maybe:

a.image{
border: 1px solid 000000;
}

or
a:image{
border: 1px solid 000000;
}

In style tags?

well of course its not.
Your trying to make image rollovers, you do know that you have to go over text and then the image shows.
so what do you want the text to be?

<a href="">Text Text<span><img src="http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/915/yumx3shrunkmaksfhzxmf1em.jpg" width="100px"></span></a>

so it would be that
Change the text text to what ever you want it to say so when someone goes over it the image will come up. Just don't make the link to go anywhere so it doesn't go anywhere.

try using hex codes for your color instead of writing it out. white= FFFFFF
