I have a puppy, about a year old now.

He's a Jack Russell Terrier, so he's super energetic.

He's neutered, but still very energetic.

Because of that, he is not allowed inside the house. He's in the backyard and sleeps in the garage.

But JRT's need constant attention, and it's hard for me to have to go outside just to play with him.

I love him very much and I don't want to send him to another home.

If I can train him to be calm and stuff, maybe my parents will let him in the house.

How can I convince them?

aw, thats so sad that your dog cant ever really experience family..

i remember watching arthur a few weeks back and (its on pbs and its for kids, but i watch it anyway.) the dog; pal was a lot like your dog. he trained him and then at the very end, arthur kinda performed his tricks to his family.

you could do that. teach him tricks and teach him how to behave. then show your parents. you can go to the book store to get dog obedience guice books and such.

good luck!

I have a chihuahua. She's a crazy little one. Your story reminds me of here... she's not really allowed in the house either, and chihuahua's are indoor dogs!

Anyway, I'm pretty sure you're parents will let him inside if you were to train him. Tell your parents how you feel, and that you want him to be trained so he can stay. Just talk to them about it, I'm sure they'll understand how you feel and all that.

Yeah, you could try going outside yourself Sean.
Just train it until it can get in the house.

Do you walk him?? Try walking or rather running with him everyday. Let him use his energy.
I agree with training him. Try telling him no whenever he's doing something wrong. Most of this is coming from books I've read, but with my dog some of it works. I have a hyper little chihuahua mixed.

Or deal with it and play with him outside. You don't have any shaded areas in your backyard??

I have a Jack Russell Terrier!!

But, unfortunately, I can't really give you advice - well, actually, maybe: try your best to train your dog really early!

My dog's going on 7 and he's still as crazy as ever, because we didn't train him very well. But, I still love him.

What the hell is being filipino colored? I've seen a million different colored filipinos, they look dark, light, in between...I dont even know if THERE IS A COLOR FOR THEM
So they look like everyone else
Its weird how filipinos are all mixed with something else, like exotic (puertorican, russian)
Dont trip, Its like saying that your house is blue, theres a million blues

oh yeah Sean you're gay, Go die seriously, because you overlooked the fact that it has to live outside and in the garage. I hope you wake up to find the dog dead next to you in your bed. Honestly

Give it attention.

He's obviously bored out there all day, so he has to entertain himself... with being hyper.

But really, if you just like play with it and pet it and talk to it it wont be so jumpy all the time.
