Truly, Nothing is wrong with rap. Its just that most of the mainstream rap really takes now skill to make. Many rappers(mainstream) say things about themselves that arent true. Fakes, basically. In conclusion, underground rap is the shizz. Mainstream has a bit of catching up to do....

I wish I was around for the beginning of this debate, considering I am the intelligent advocator of hiphop when it comes to musically biased (and ignorant) forums such as Createblog. Nonetheless, I feel as though HipHop music, as a genre, is targeted, and exploited, and seems to be used as a tool to stagnate the acceptance of African American culture. Its ridiculous that the Ying Yang Twinz get more radio airplay than The Roots, but, thats the way the music business works; exploitation = revenue.

Well, you have to remember, even more, that the best of MC's are never heard by most people, nor played outside of California/New York Radio, in this country.
I'm talking about the 427's, Immortal Techniques, etc. (Who speak on everything from politics to existentialist themes) There's of course the roots of hip-hop (it's not rap, despite what your TV tells you, and you blindly agree with, ignorantly), artists like KRS-One, Slick Rick, Public Enemy, etc., who had something valuable to say, but alas, like the psuedo punk-rcok, hip-hop has become something used to push products for capitalism, in a political climate where the politicians in charge of much of this pretend to hate in, order to make it seem "bad" ($$$).
Kinda lame how so many people talk about how Hip-Hop is so negative, or pointless, when much of ACTUAL hip-hop is WAY more on the reality tip than the guitar driven emotional garbage that's "in style."

Hip-Hop isn't dead, and still concerns the evolution of the 5 elements (although said evolution has stagnated for many years, it seems to be evolving on a few of the fronts in the past few years).

If you want hip-hop, go to the underground. If you haven't gone there, don't talk about Hip-Hop. You know nothing about it. I notice most of you in this thread speak in a very immature high-school holier than thou manner on this, and should stop it.

If you remember nothing else, remember that what you see now is "rap." This isn't the same as "hip-hop," and therefore, isn't the real. It isn't directly descended or created by the pioneers, and hardly has anything to do with them, control-wise, or anything else.
It's a lot like the modern punk movement, if you can understand where I'm coming from.
A terrible cheap version of what it originally was, and what it was meant to be, thanks to record companies, capitalism, and dumb teens with too much cash.

And of course, "mainstream rap" has been a plague on black society for the past...I'd say 18 years, but I'll get into that on another post entitled "why N.W.A. blew it for
African-American people everywhere".

Nothing is wrong with rap! I listen to some rap and i like it personally people are trying to hard to hate something when they should enjoy it as a form of music.Instead of not liking it.

I dont choose to listen to it,its garbage and its negative to society.Your the moron for even saying something like that.If you dont want to hear it,your going to hear it one place or another.Theres nothing that i can possibly do about having to hear that shitty stuff.And yes the majority of rap does degrade women.You cant f**king deny it if you actually hear it or listen to it.So stfu.

Ok lemme give you an example of why rap is bad and i dont care that you wont care so in that case,go crash and burn.

A young boy watches a music video lets say 50 cent just made it and it has him talking bout his usual shit of how he got shot and they act it out in the video and its not the only video about being shot or shooting someone else,its actually his 3rd time.So he see's those rap artist rapping about b-tches and hoes and all that "pimp"stuff.So the little boy recognizes that his father has a gun and now he has learned new words he shouldnt be saying and a new outlook on life and he decides to follow after the rap artist.

So he takes his father's gun and dresses all ghetto with those gang rags covering his face and he goes out and shoots someone.Then he notices a girl who is walking down the street,but he doesnt know it was his mother.So he goes up to her and says "b-tch bend down and gimme some head"So his mother is shocked.Why?Because she never saw her child talk like that and now the cops are after him.

See,it may have been his choice to follow after 50 cent and other rap artist and what they rap about e.t.c. but he follows it from the actions done by those rap artist.Which is clearly why rap is wrong.It degrades women,it makes people different and turns them into an dumb ass like you.And other things.So an the rap artist actions had a reaction which was a result as in a choice but also finding it right to follow after the rap artist.But i dont expect an idiot like you to get the point i just made.

There was an article about an interview with a principal of a local bronx school and 2 rap artist.And what did the rap artist say "it was their choice to do talk,act,and behave the way they do"Well thats also because they think its right because they see the rap artist doing it in videos and for the talking/behaving part from the lyrics.So action = reaction.The rap artist made and rapped about what they did and the reaction is similar to exactly what happens in the example i provided.
