Yeah, she is stupid. Myspace takes enough measures to try and protect stupid 14 year olds. Her stupidity got her harassed.

Remember the good old days before Myspace. We never had any problems with xanga or livejournal or friendster.

There should be a myspace where during registration they ask for your drivers license number or like credit card info.

The parents blame myspace, I blame the parents.

yeah i think its just common sence i think the defence should argue the girl braking the rules and the y are going to argue myspace not having strict enough rules

I think its funny how people/the media always pick on myspace. Yet I've never seen anything about Xanga... (there probably is something though)

I dont like myspace anyway.

Parents should be protecting their kids from the freaking internet. I say no internet til you're at least 18!! haha, no. But really, the kid's parents should be paying more attention to how much of an idiot their kid has turned into. What the hell was that girl thinking?? and now..sueing? come on now. Geeze. Like everyone said..she will lose, she shouldn't even be on that site. Gosh.
um...you wouldn't be on the internet then. this goes against the whole you want to be independent and do what you want and i doubt you want your parents looking over your shoulder and reading everything you write.

I was wondering that too. I think it's because you have to write journal entries for your xanga or livejournal to go anywhere, and I'm guessing that teenage girls are more concerned with posting pictures of themselves than actually writing.

The suit alleges that MySpace has "absolutely no meaningful protections or security measures to protect underage users."
What, so that automatically means that MySpace has to watch your every move and try and catch you everytime you give your phone number to a stranger?

MySpace just needs to move there servers out of the US and take care of all of these stupid lawsuits. Mom and Dad wanted the money, it shows how lawsuit happy the world around us can be.

What a stupid girl. She must have lied about her age so that her profile wasn't set on private, and it's her fault for being so stupid as to give a stranger her number. Like it matters if she thought he was under eighteen--she still didn't know him.

It's girls like her who cause my dad to declare myspace as unsafe and block it--not that I can't hack my way through the parental controls, but still.

They have a website for people between 10-16. It's just like myspace. They really need to be tougher on underage kids on myspace & the stupid porn bots. GRR

^Ditto. For a while their was this porn bot under the assumed name of Rita who kept harassing me and my friends, but she (it) was instantly reported. Then the same porn bot assumed the name Martha, got deleted again, and gave up.

has anyone yet on this topic taken the side of the girl? haha.
well whether you like myspace or not, it's still dumbass shit to sue them. it really doesn't matter what you're on. write now i could post my number and address. i could go on aim and tell everyone. and i could do that on ANY website i wanted!!! it's not myspace's fault that happened. because no matter what site you're on, it's the user's responsibility to be protective. myspace isn't the only site where kids talk to strangers. so myspace shouldn't be blamed for the situation. this is probley mean, but i hope kids give that girl hell when she goes back to school for being dumb and not taking the blame for it and instead sueing myspace.

Wow, well let's see....Myspace will never be able to completely be safe so anyone who is wishing for that....Sorry, its not happening. And why did this girl even talk to this "19" year old? It's not myspace's fault, It's the actual person who begins this line of meeting the old man who hasn't had sex for like 15 years.
