It's called the negative after-image effect
Every color in the rainbow has an opposite color, in which you mix them together you get gray. When you stare at something colorful for several seconds your retinas makes adjustments as a result. In this case you were staring at a picture with the colors inverted. As a result of staring at a gray background afterwards, it caused you to see the inverse of the inverted color scheme which is the original color scheme. |

this is weird. it didn't work for me. even if you didn't stare at it for 30 seconds, it would still do that. i don't get this

It worked for me.. It looks like a full color photo for like a second and then goes back to just being grayscale.

You don't have to stare at the dot, just roll over the image, and it replaces the discolored image, or whatever, with a colored image...

It really is an optical illusion. Only two images. One which is an invert and the other which is a gray scale image. |
