I definitely have a northen accent, because I was born in Chicago and I lived there too so I guess I never lost it since I moved to Mississippi.

From time to time I have a good ol' southern accent, but it only shows in a few words. I live in a very very diverse neighborhood in a diverse city and I went to a diverse middle/high school so that kinda killed anything I had. BUT I still love using southern lingo, i.e. y'all :D

Well yeah, accents are definitely relative.

Most Americans have an American accent, and within America, there are different accents, e.g. Southern, New York, etc. But then I believe there are people here who don't have a classifiable American accent, i.e. they don't have an accent associated with a particular region. So as Americans, we will consider those people to "not have an accent."

If you look at it like that, I know lots of people "without accents."

oooh ok thanks! i can't really relate to this much then, most american accent sounds the same to me but the thread makes much more sense now at least =P

Well alot of people say I don't and that I sound 'normal'.
My mum says I sound much less Welsh than my friends, but at times people think I sound really 'Welshy'

But I think I don't have much accent. Considering my mother is Thai, and my father is Welsh but barely has an accent himself.
I think having an accent depends on the environment you grow up in really, as my boyfriend has an English accent but he's half Welsh.

Well being that I was born in Mississippi and have been living in Florida since the age of 1, my friends say I have a southern accent, but I don't think so. I mean yea I can talk with different accents, depending on the mood I'm in.
