People as close as New Jersey notice the difference. We say caw-fee instead of coffee, and long-guyland instead of long island. And Dawg instead of dog.

Not that i know of. I mean, everyone has an accent, but I don't know what you would classify mine as. I grew up in NewYork, but moved down south in `03. Since that, the way I talk has been mellowed out (not so much NY). Somebody down here told me I sorta have a western drawl. which translates into "plain", not one way or the other.

Yeah, I do... not sure where it's from, exactly though. I just know that if I speak English to Japanese people here, they'll go "Oh, you have an American accent!" Nothing HUGE though. |

i was born in hong kong but then moved to the united states at 3. so it was easy for me to learn. so, no. i dont have one. although, i can do a killer british accent. Haha! I can do a killer British accent too! I'm from long Island, and I got the accent BAD. It's mellowed out a little, now that i live somewhere else...but it's still really prominent. |

i have multiple accents. its not anything that i do on purpose, but i tend to take on the accent of the area i am in. my original accent was deep southern new orleans accent, then moving to NC it changed to a high country accent, now its a mixture of both. i tend to go back in the new orleans accent when in the state of being angry and yelling or arguing. i dont know im weird i guess, lol.
its like i can stay somewhere for a few weeks and automatically capture part of the accent in that area. |

Being born and raised in Oxford, you would think I would sound posh but actually I don't. I'm really well spoken and it shocks alot of people for some reason. Also I don't have an accent which is cool since it means everyone can understand me rather then a few.

I'm from the north of England, but where I live, I kinda sound different to the other people. I dunno why >.> I think it's because I picked up on how both my parents speak, so I'm just one big mess......but then again, I don't really have an accent...it's just northern. Everyone can understand me.

I've met some Americans who claimed I have some sort of Canadian accent, but I don't think so... *shrug*
I heard lots of different accents on my vacation a week or ago. Texan, Mexican, British, etc... |

Well yeah, accents are definitely relative.
Most Americans have an American accent, and within America, there are different accents, e.g. Southern, New York, etc. But then I believe there are people here who don't have a classifiable American accent, i.e. they don't have an accent associated with a particular region. So as Americans, we will consider those people to "not have an accent." If you look at it like that, I know lots of people "without accents." |

Yessss, very much so. I have a southern accent. I know because I moved to Colorado for a year and the people at school would tell me, "Awwe, your accent is so sweet/cute!" I'm like, "Thanks"
