I have a mac so it is hard to download Guitar Pro but to compose music you should use garage band. It is amazing for macs though. You just hook in your instument and play. Also if you use a grand piano you can play the notes on the guitar and transfer it to the piano or any other intrument .

Yeah I am composer/guitarist and I use Guitar Pro 5 might wanna check me out at krzyflipx on Youtube but GP5(guitar pro 5) is much better than the previous versions because of the better way in tabbing music, or your own creations, and the import/exporting of songs that are already tabbed and you can make Midi sequences, other than that it also has the feature of RSE(realistic sound engine) unlike the things you here in MIDI files, the RSE here in GP5 make it sound so the instruments sound more realistic like an actual human Playing. I aslo use Power Tab Editor which is like GP5 but not as good. need recording software help as well?
