Everyone knows their status of friendship, but it is entirely up to them weather they choose to flaunt their fortunes or misfortunes or to bury it for the sanity and sake of those around them.

Given the opportunity anybody will puff themselves up, even those who claim to be selfless and humble. The true selfless and humble do not claim to be selfless and humble, but it is those who recognize them for their acts who indeed make them as they are.
