You guys reccommended I try BC for my really random/irregular periods & cramps. I'd like to, except I'm 15 & I live with my mother and it's not like I can just go BUY the stuff without her [ unless they sell it at rite aid or something
![]() "Hey mom my period's been irregular for the past 3-4 years, CAN I HAVE BC!?" I don't knowwww wtf. ;/ |

Hmmm..if your period's been irregular for the past 3-4 years, you should definitely at least let her know about it, and then maybe figure something out with her.
Personally, I think that's something that she should know. |

Well, if you do need to go on the Pill for your irregular period, then you should at least notify your mother. Or if you don't want to, you could always bring a friend along to the gynecologist's because the Pill is a prescription drug. And you don't have to worry about your mother being notified about it because there is doctor-patient confidentiality.

welll why dont you tell ur mom that you want to go to the doctor to find out why you have irregular periods and then the doctor will tell her to get you birth control pills so she wont panic if you just say to her " i want BC"

i think that if you were to go get them by yourself and there was a chance of her finding out, THEN she'd think you're having sex. but if you casually bring it up to her about your irregular periods that you've been having for way too long, she'd probably look into things with you so that way it's not behind her back, or her thinking the wrong things. i'm sure your mom would flip out because that's a mom's job, and it IS birth control mainly used for sex, but i'm sure if you explain to her first your irregularity and how it is, and how you'd like it better if you actually knew when you'd get it and how BC will help you with this, i don't think she can object to something like this. let her know too that if she flips out that you're not using it for sex.

Actually you can go to your mom, your basic doctor should give you a free trial.
Mine were irreg for awhile, and I just gave up, and told my mom I needed to figure out something. So my doctor put me on bc.. I regret it, honestly.. I'd rather have my irregular-ness back... BC made me clot soo bad.. and you don't wanna hear about this. Go talk to your mom :) Tell her the real reason so she doesn't go.. LYK OMGZORZ SEX! |

whats that one place for teens? the name of it suddenly slipped my mind... anways, you can go there to ask for birth control. you dont need a parent to go with you. ask a friend to take you or something. Those Teen Pregnancy places? Not all states are able to give it to you if you're under eighteen. Just a heads up. ![]() Actually you can go to your mom, your basic doctor should give you a free trial. BC is usually free, but if you go to a clinic and say you that you have a doctor already (like Kaiser or whatever) sometimes they wont give it to you because they'd prefer if you just get it there. getting it at your doctor is free, too, and they give you 3 months dosage at a time. about the cramping, birth control most of the time reduces your cramps, or will make you not have it all, but that's not true for everyone because it really depends on how YOUR body reacts to it. xCrys may have had clotting but not everyone might, btw sorry about that.. ![]() but yeah the dosages are different too so the side effects can be different based on that |

Yes, it's probably best to be open with your mom. It sounds like it would be embarassing to do but I did the same thing around your age... she noticed that I had really uncomfortable periods (mine lasted for way too long and were way too heavy.) We were afraid I might be anemic because of it, so we went to the gynecologist and she was very supportive.
It's just one of those things you have to do; tell your mother your concerns and let her know that she can trust you. |

I think you should talk to your doctor and see what he/she thinks is best.

There was discussion on it in some thread in Health about a pregnancy scare. The girl went to her Planned Parenthood and they wouldn't give it to her. I think she lived in Georgia. Then Elba said that she lives in California and they give it to teens under eighteen there. ![]() |

I'm in California.. Right now I'm not sure who my real doctor is, my old one [who i haven't been to since january], well I heard from my mom she quit or something but I didn't ASK if I even have a doctor anymore.
We have a planned parenthood or whatever, but I heard that it takes a while to get an appointment, they're really busy and I could never get through on the phone. I've never been close with my Mom so it's a little bit hard for me to talk to her about stuff like that. So what the next time I go get a physical or something when she asks about my period do I tell her how lame it is? |

I wouldn't recommend taking BC for period stuff.
It screws up your hormones and stuff. Look for other alternatives and please talk to your mom about all this before you try anything. I am certain she will understand. Sometimes an irregular period is due to improper nutrition as well. Be sure to talk to a doctor about all of this, and ask for other alternatives besides BC. Taking BC for period stuff is not exactly the safest way. and some BC makes you gain weight. Blah. |

Oh my. ;/ That's the response I DON'T want to get. I guess it would help, your doctor should have experience in these things right? Haha. Maybe I will wait and ask my doctor. |

Hopefully it works... |

Tell your mom.
_I took contraceptives at 15 for the same purpose. _Even if you're having sex or not, having your mom know that you're taking contraceptives should give some relief. I dunno...my mom felt relieved and happy that my period is normal ![]() |

first of all you should tell your mom that your period has been iregular for 3-4 years, or atleast tell the doctor.

Talk to someone about it. Like a... therapist... only if you don't feel comfortable talking to your parents.
