Long Exposures.

Yeah. I've been trying to figure them out for quiet a while. All i remember about how to do them is. put the camera on something sturdy, and set a long shutterspeed. i forget everything else

how to do long exposures... i only remember the sturdy thing, and long shutter speed. i forget the last thing

Small aperture size (high F-stop number)? Otherwise, your picture might come out overexposed.

Actually it depends on what you're taking a picture of and the lighting (obviously), so yeah. You probably already knew this though..^^; What're you taking pictures of anyway? =]

i would be taking pictures of traffic, and maybe just some really dark places.
and then i just got a new nikon 50mm 1.8 lense.. so ill be doing some stuff with that

If you're gonna take pics at night, you can leave the shutter open for as long as you want, minutes, hours whatever. The longer you do, the more light you get on the pic when you expose it. You can make a pic you took late at night look like it was taken midday, late afternoon.

That's tight, I've got that lens as well. A pretty darn nice lens, although you have to be a bit close to your subject because the lens is so short.

For traffic, I'm not sure if you would want to use reallllyyyy long shutter speeds else the pictures will just be blurs. And for dark/night, Tribal J_Rome summed it up.

i konw it would be blurs.. or atleast the head/tail lights would be. =]

for some reason the other day. i was just playing around in my house and put the shutterspeed on like 5 minutes. i thought my camera was broken cuz it only opened and never closed.. lol. now i know better. i think =]

Hahah when you said traffic, I thought you mean like...daytime traffic and I thought "Ooh...not such a good idea." ^^;;;;
