I've just started with my overlay and I'm already having problems...

Clickie

I took out my overlay images and made it just blue to show where it will go (I want the actual layout to be a surprise when I get it right, lol).

You may have to scroll down, but you'll see light gray box spanning the screen, presumably from the bottom links. I tried to hide them to get rid of the box, but it is still there.

I tried overlaying a background image, which didn't work. The only thing that did work was overlaying an image, creating a horizontal scrollbar (I only did it to see if it would work, I knew that would happen). I feel like an idiot, but it's got me wanting to rip my hair out...

Why don't you just hide your profile first...

then where it says content here add
<img src="backgroundimageurlhere">

Oh I know how to add my overlay image, I just didn't put it up yet, I need to slice it and all that.

I did hide the profile, I used pretty much the same code that is in the link you gave me... I don't know why that gray bar is still showing...

I couldn't load your myspace, so thats why I wasn't able to see what it is. Did you try hiding the stuff above the box so the box would go up higher, and be unnoticeable?

Also use css and make your background color for tables & the overall bg the green color so you can't see the white space or boxes. that you can see in your profile.

I (think) I did what you said... I even just tried the coding in the link you have instead of what I used... it is doing the same thing. Are you able to load it yet? If not, here is a screenshot:

^ Yes, I got that.
Eh I don't know if your profile too wide or not but add this in there to see if it makes the grey smaller.

The first code made the gray only show up on the left side (it's still up if you need to see it).

This is in my About Me:

<style type="text/css">
body {
background-color: 8eb05c;
}
.Main {
position:absolute;
left:50%;
top:0px;
width:800px;
z-index:1;
margin-left:-400px;
padding:0px;
border:0px;
background-color:6bafc2;}
</style>

----------
This is in I'd Like to Meet:

<div class="main">

<table style="width:800px;
height:1200px;
cellpadding:0px;
cellspacing:0px;
border:0;
background-color:6bafc2;}">
<tr><td valign="top">

All of your content goes in here, whether it be tables, flash, or whatever!

</td> </tr> </table> </div>

Try changing:
body {
background-color: 8eb05c;
}

to
body, tr, td, table{
background-color: 8eb05c;
}
