okay I really want to be on the swim team at my school, but my mom won't let me because she doesn't want me usin tampons. Also, she says it will take up too much of my time, but I think I'm willing to commit to it.

Any suggestions?

Oh, and sorry if this doesn't belong here...feel free to move it. :D

Well if you have some kind of ride arrangment made (like a carpool) maybe she could reconsider?

And tampons are not so bad..as long as you make sure you don't wear them over 8 hours, nothing that I'm aware of can go wrong..

The using of tampons makes this a girl issue the mother part makes this a relationship issue...meh it can stay here.

Wearing tampons shouldnt be used as a good reason by your mom for not allowing you to join the swim team, especially when you are committed to do it. Just tell her it would mean alot if she would let you join the team, maybe will change her mind.....

I'm a swimmer. ^^; If you swim competitively, you have to be really dedicated. My swim team makes practices long and hard, and every day except Sunday's. If you think you can do it, then go ahead! I'm not sure about your team, but mine's lets people try it out for 2 weeks and then decide if you want to stay or not.

Tampons are a real pain, especically if you have a heavy period. They're really annoying to put in, and if you don't put it in correctly, it might fall out when you are swimming. But If you've used them before and can put them in correctly, tell your mom you really want to do this and you'll be dedicated and keep your grades up and such.

tampons aren't that bad, if you remember to change them regularly. reassure your mom that you can do it, that you are commited to swimming

Maybe you should just not swim during your period but you should other days.

Well, swim team does take up a lot of time, so I think you'd have to convice your mom you'd be really dedicated to it.

i read somewhere that when you're in the pool, you don't have your period.

but i'm not sure, since there was a debate about it.

if you're really dedicated, then go for it.

personally, i wouldnt, since tampons scare me, and i'm not into swimming,

but you should carpool and try out anyway.

^^ yea...but getting in and out of the pool? you're gonna have to convince your mother that you're gonna be dedicated to it, and that using tampons is something you're going to have to do to be on the swim team. If you want it enough, I don't think your mother will say no if you can prove you're responsible.

If you want to be on the swim team, don't let anything stop you. Tell your mom it'll mean a lot when you're applying for university wink.gif

BLAHAHAHAHA don't use a tampon. Tell her that it's really important to her, why you would do good on the swim team, and how you'll do your homework and crap before practice.

^ You're kidding.

Well, in simple terminology, it's an internal pad. That has to be.. er.. inserted.

you have a higher chance of getting into a college if you were committed to a team. they don't like numbers anymore.

tampons are unavoidable. just use them and remember to take them out.
