Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my favorites; I should reread it sometime soon. Same with Orwell's Animal Farm and Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men. There's a lot of good classical literature out there.

I really liked Pride and Prejudice - one of the first classic novels I was able to read before watching a film about it.

I also liked Of Mice and Men, although I was probably one of the only people in my english group who actually did tongue.gif. I think it was the fact that we had to do an exam on it meant people automatically asumed it would be boring.

I adore Shakespeare. Most of my peers hate reading in general, so I don't really listen to their opinions on how much they hate Shakespeare, Wells, Steinbeck, ect.

my favorites?

Mary Shelly's Frankenstein and Voltaire's Candide are VERY good.

Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice are amazing.

I loved Dracula, and Animal Farm....though I did find the latter to be a bit creepy.

I found Huck Finn to be exceedingly long.

It Can't Happen Here-Sinclair Lewis is also VERY good. thumbsup.gif

Pride and Prejudice is perhaps my favorite.
I also liked To Kill A Mockingbird quite a lot... along with Jane Eyre and The Great Gatsby.

To Kill A Mockingbird and Of Mice And Men turned out to be pretty good, a bit better than I thought.

Completely agree with you. I never understood the importance of that awful book (Of Mice and Men). Steinbeck's East of Eden was much better.

I like the Anne of Green Gables Series.

I don't know if that's a classic or anything though.

I actually liked Great Expectations, though everyone told me the book suuuuucked. ONE DOWNER = speaking/writing like dickens after reading the book, I swear it f**ks with your grammar and diction and makes you talk like an english gentleman afterwards.

Tale of Two Cities - Was alight. Lucy (I think was her name) really pissed me off. She was so shallow and just a typical stupid weak female character.

Great Gatsby - Loved.

Oedipus - Loved.

Shakespeare - I love most Shakespeare with the exception of Hamlet. I have this thing with hating whiny stupid characters. Love MacBeth.

Things Fall Apart - Very good.

Gone With The Wind - Horribly long, but absolutely worth it.

There are more. Have to think on it.

Of Mice and Men was really good! Totally hated the ending, but I can't think of another way to end it.

I absolutely hated Brave New World. Because of our 11th grade class they no longer teach Lord of the Flies at my old high school. shifty.gif I mean come on, a bunch of teenage girls, reading about young boys running around butt naked on an island? Sure, there was some awesome symbolism in there, but for the most part the book bored me. Poor Simon.

^ Forreal. People who do not like To Kill A Mockingbird are exceptionally loathesome beings.

I really detest Jane Eyre, however. SO dry, and so long. Also, I'm not in anyway a Dickens fan. I just can't get into any of his novels.
