Well, I got started trying to vexel a picture of Sarah Michelle Gellar. Yes, most of it looks really bad. So right now, all I have is the face. I'll start working on the shadows and the hair later. I need some criticism.

^Thanks. I'm kind of having a hard time doing the shadings, like the nose creases and the eye shadings.

can you resend the picture at 100% instead of 67.7 ot whatever its at. That would clear up whether its rough or its just the zoom. I've seen that tutorial that youre working on (or that piture is a conincidence) and its a good one to start on. I suggest you finish this one, and try to find a better tutorial tho for the next. It seems like you have a good start. Try hiding the base skin layer, and posterising the main layer. It helps a lot to get an idea of where the nose creases go. Keep at it.

Uhm, yeah, it's choppy, don't take screenshots when it's at 66.7%.

And..that picture is way too hard for a beginner. I'd get one where ___ is looking straight in the face, so that you can get easier posterization lines.

Try posterizing the image first, that usually helps a lot with shading. Too get the skin color to look even-toned with shading pick one main color, then adjust the brightness by 3 or 4 with each layer.

Nice job for a start though.
