Actually, I don't really think I'd really have sex if my parents were strict and absolutely forbid me to do it, it or did everything to prevent me from doing it. So that's a part of why when the parents know, the kid will be less likely to have sex. Like I said, if the kid was really determined to have sex, they'd find ways to do it. You yourself seem to be against sex at this age so it's not like you'd go out of your way to do it.A guy in my class was chewing on a vanilla condom because he didn't have gum. I didn't know that condoms had flavors..? But I think that there should be a condom distribution because in school, there are many sexually active teens. Also, it would protect them somewhat from getting HIV/AIDS You want distribution? Like, going around to each class and giving every student some condoms? |

I am against sex at a YOUNG age; when the person is immature. I'm not against it once you know what you want, and once you're ready. Don't put words in my mouth. Taylor`` |

Yes. I can guarantee you that when its that moment, most people won't stop because they don't have a condom. I think it is a great idea to hand them out at schools because it would help protect alot of people who are otherwise afraid to buy them or something.

Yes. Because even though kids get the "abstinence" talk, some if not most of them are still going to have sex. So by giving them the condoms at least they'll have it for when they do decide to stray from" abstinence."
Even if you don't use it, it's just good to have... in an emergency.. haha |

maybe they should make it so that u hafta fill out a form or something and have ur parents sign nd sh*t lol Then you might as well not do it, because a) kids aren't going to want their parents to know, and b) if it's okay if their parents know, their parents could buy them for them. |

They should, considering that alot of teens are already sexually active, and they promote abstnance much too late, by the time its promoted there are several pregnancys!!!

I think they should. I dont think its encouraging sex but encouraging protection. Too many schools are just "dont have sex". The kids who really want to have sex don't listen to that. And they might be too embarrassed to get a condom at the store or from the nurse [because that would be admitting they do it] so they just don't use protection at all. But, if the school gave them to everyone, they'd get one without having to admit they're having sex. Then that would lessen their chance of getting pregnant/stds. And the kids who are against sex will just throw the condom away anyway. So they may as well just hand out condoms so the ones who want to do "it" can do it safely.

the christian conservative abstinance programs are misleading, and subequently deadly.
1- no mention was given to the fact that condoms radically reduce the risks for STDs, although they do not prevent them. In fact, emphasis was given to mislead students into believing the chances were the same. 2- no mention was given on the proper use of a condom. the CDC's website no longer has information about how to use a condom, because bush's administration ordered it taken down. when medical agencies can no longer provide medical advice, it should be a blaring siren that religion is intruding on common sense. people who make abstinance pledges are less likely to have had sex in the next year. but when they do have sex, they are more likely to have unprotected sex. |

I don't think condoms should be given out by schools. Some kids would think that it is saying its okay to have sex then. It would be giving the wrong impression. If you are mature enough and ready for sex you should be able to buy condoms and all some where other then school. And some people would be too embarrassed to buy them at school anyway. If schools really want to stop sex from happening at such a young age they should make a dress code, have heath classes that teach you so much more (speaking for myself we had heath half a year are freshman year and nothing more. I barley learned anything.), ect… Parents might not like it… Schools would be risking giving the wrong impression and then more people would start having sex. They might be practicing safer sex but what happens when they have sex with more then one person and regret it later, they think there ready but not…ect.
What I am trying to say before I started going on and on was it could give the wrong impression so I say no, condoms should not be given out by schools. |

On the one hand, I can see good reasoning behind not offering condoms in school—and it has nothing to do with a religious argument. I personally feel that our educational system has lost focus. American society seems to feel that kids should learn everything in school. I don't think that's the case. I think parents should be teaching kids things such as sex. Ideally, I think parents should teach their kids about sex, and let them make the proper decisions. Kids should feel comfortable going to their parents with this sort of issue. Sex should be left up to parents, not the school. The school should be more knowledge such as math, science, history, philosophy, and so forth—things most parents might not be qualified to teach.
Of course, that's just a pipe dream. |

i can see how handing out condoms could make kids think its okay to have sex, but really, most kids think its okay anyway. if they gave them out, then at least kids would be using them.

I think it depends on the schools. Because I read in a magazine that like 10 students got pregnant before their prom and all..So like if a lot of women are pregnant, they should distribute them.

This should have been a poll. But yeah it's better than having students have unprotected sex and saves them the embarrasment of having to buy them themselves.
