no, because the school is basically saying: " go ahead, try it! ... oh yeah...wear a condom too. "

isnt the point for teens NOT to lose their virginity at such a young age? Don't you think that it's possible that they will be more intrigued to go out after school and screw the nearest person out of plain curiousity?

QUOTE
no, what it says is, that 'we know that you will do this, so we're going to protect you to the best of our ability'

and in my opinion, sex is ok, between two consenting people. and the average sex age will never fall to 12, b/c not THAT many kids have really hit puberty full on by that time, which is when the sex drive kicks in

The school DOESN'T know that they will most definitely have sex right then and there. They are assuming that from the media's influence and from all the stories that they have heard. What they should be continuously telling teens are the risks of having sex, not saying "heres a condom, go, have sex!" To protect their studnets to their best abilities, they shouldn't be giving out condoms. they should be informing them about the risks and offering aids/hiv tests. Any freakin teen can go out and buy their own condom. but not every one of them can go get tested for aids.

so, you're saying that having sex at a young age [about 16] is alright? Wow. if people really think that, then the average sex age may definitely fall all the way down to 12. *cringes*

OR the school could be saying:

"If you're going to have sex, use a condom."

Yes, but do you really think that's how highschoolers will take the message as? I highly doubt it.

I was a high school kiddo once, and I thought that way. My guy friends thought that way, too. We didn't tore out those condom packages and hump each other. Maybe high school kids are the ones suggesting sex instead of the condoms or the school itself?

it's not like condoms would be given out in goody bags or something.

it's more like if you go to the nurse and asked for one you'd get a condom,

true...but i bet that a lot of unresponsible and immature highschoolers in your highschool would be saying "omg a condom! lets use it!" Because...there are always a bunch of ppl like that in every school.

Sure, I think of sex when I see condoms, but I'm not going to suggest a guy use them on me or anything. So, yea, it's those pesky, horny kids that make sex that much more lewd than the condom. _smile.gif

Well, maybe people like yourself wouldnt take the message as it's being presented...I do have doubts. Can you understand that the school is NOT promoting sexual activity?

Teens have sex. Deal.

Why not be safe? That's really all that the school's trying to present to the kids, and that's all there is to it.

hmmmm i mean theres a plus and a negative to this it might seems as though we are promoting sex and i do believe if we start handing condoms out at schools more kids would have sex ( just liike when condoms started people felt safe so the stds percentage went way way way up ) positive kids would have protected sex .. hmmmmmmm i say no because i mean how many kids a year get pregnant well at my school one couple but thats it and besides the pregnant percentage isnt as high is stds i think

depends on the age of the students attending the school;
because why would condoms be distributed at a nursery or such.?

--but condoms are for the safety of everyone.

they totally should, some kids, especially if it's their first times, are embarrassed to go into a CVS or pharmacy to purchase condoms on their own, so that would be a reason for not using any condoms. if school's just randomly let anyone take it, when the moment comes, they'll always have that one from school they kept in their wallets. convenient and free.

stupid, yes, but i remember my first time i had sex, i didnt use a condom cause we didnt have one. did the whole pulling out trick, but damn, did i wish i had that lubricated condom

a)That is pretty judgemental of you. A lot of kids who say they are having sex, are just saying it. It is suprising of how many highschoolers are actually NOT having sex. And I don't really believe at all, for one second, that a bunch of kids are going to say OhMeeGeez, lets lyke go have sex because the school nurse gave us some condoms!

b)NO, it is not some special class. You have to go to the NURSE and ask her for one. They wouldn't just hand them out. Maybe if you had Sex Ed or something but I doubt teachers would just be handing them out.

^That is a school dance. They aren't sitting you down in a classroom and then when you leave, giving you a condom.

i think its a good idea but, a bad one too

its good because if kids do wanna have sex they at least have 1 form of protection

its bad because then it night persuade kids to have sex since they have condoms

wow thats crazy. now if that was given out during a health class that would of been alright but like school dances are something different casue they just give you the condom , its like they dont explain to you why you are given the condom. If it were at health class or something close to that there would be a reason explained so it wouldnt advertising having sex. It would just be if your gunna have sex be safe.

*might.

And your arguement for the "bad" is weak. If I was handing out guns, would that persuade you to go shoot yourself/someone else?

It would be a good idea for the nurse only to hand them out....i mean look how many kids has kids in school...there are a lot at my that pregnant or have kid(s) already....and even if they are not given out at school...for those that are on medicare they are free...

I agree with that....
