^ to me in my opinion it does promote sex. its saying that sex is ok you can do it. i know what you mean by "its YOUR CHOICE" cause it is your choice. but still like if i had sex right now ,im 16, then next generation the average age for teens to have sex goes down to 14 years old (they still have sex cause its "ok") and in the next generation it goes down to 12 and so on and so on. your pushing the limits when you say its ok to have sex especially at such a young age. and i know i dont want my 12 year old having sex (protected or not)

no, what it says is, that 'we know that you will do this, so we're going to protect you to the best of our ability'

and in my opinion, sex is ok, between two consenting people. and the average sex age will never fall to 12, b/c not THAT many kids have really hit puberty full on by that time, which is when the sex drive kicks in

QUOTE
s stupid for ciggarettes, you still can die from ciggarettes even if you turn 18 there is no point in selling it at 18. you can start at anyage and still suffer from smoking.

you can die from HIV. and yet you still seem to think that taking steps to prevent it in teenagers is wrong, b/c of a set of morals

well im sorry, but real lives being ruined by STIs HAS to take presedence over the christian/islmic/whatever ideals

..and where do you get this magical idea that the schools say it's OK to have sex? In fact, if anything, I think they warn you of the consequences. At least at our school they do...

That makes sense, but when would be the right grade? I know that for me, I was a bit uncomfortable during middle school when the issue of sex came up and that was when sex got thrown into my face by way of the school board.

if you don't want your 12 year old having sex, tell them not to and why. just because some people have sex doesn't mean everyone has to. leave others alone. not everyone agrees with you. just cause YOU don't wanna have sex now doesn't mean others don't. you can't set the rules for everyone based on your personal morals. you shouldn't be influenced if your beliefs are so strong, so WHY THE HELL DOES IT MATTER?!
*

its not that easy to tell your kid not to have sex at 12 . i know you do some things that your parents tell you not to and dont lie not everyone is perfect.if everyone around had sex there is a big chance you would love to try it also. i know for a fact i think about drinking but i dont and why cause i know its bad but most of my friends talk about drinking. sex at 12 are you crazy? im sry my mother is a nurse and she has had patients that were pregnant at that age. and thats why they teach you about abstence at 6th grade when the average age is 12 cause thats when puberty hits.

some of the kids in my middle school were having sex in 6th grade cause no one ever told them the consequences. i'm glad they start at least that early. if you get uncomfortable hearing it, then you probably won't be doing it too soon. _smile.gif

well then the reasons to distribute them overpower the fact that they "encourage sex", so why are you arguing against me?

the way to prevent teen pregnacies is not to give out condoms.

we need to target the source-

mix in birth control medicine into the school milk.

rolleyes.gif

edit:
so we'll just give them no protection from STDs. i mean, it's not like condoms reduce transmission rates...

I'm all for it
If they try to promote abstinice kids are going to do it anyways, its better for the school to reduce the dropout rate due to unexpected pregnancys, I used to go to a school known as "the baby factory", and our school didn't distribute condoms, the kids that go the building down the street that gives free bags of condoms did, and the school didn't condone that. I believe they def. should distribute condoms at school!

i say they should be distributed.maybe not in the nurses though cause i know that teens will be embarrased to go.maybe some kind of i guess you can say "vending machine" in the bathroom would be the most discreet way.and i dont see it in any way encouraging.what i see as encouraging is having a daycare in school for students to bring in their kids at no charge.i say this cause thats what they have in some high schools in my town.and besides the school authorty knows that if they say "don't have sex" that teens are gonna do it anyways so they might as well help you out in another way which is by offering easy access to protection.

my point is that we are pushing a limit on what age should a person have sex i mean we cant do anything now its just that everything might go to a downfall . like they start showing full nudity in rated r movies or start cursing in PG movies but the point is that i just think they pushed a limit on have sex. sure its ok to give condoms out to kids who have sex but i just wanted to point out that we pushed a limit.

They give them out at my middle and high school by request. i think its a good thing. we dont have high rates of teen pregancies like other surrounding counties because we are taught sex education early, there are even classes in my hometown that teach parents how to talk about sex with their children.

i'm pretty sure that the school nurse gives out condoms, but only if you ask. but if they did publicly give out condoms it would be good, because students that are sexually active hae less of a chance of getting pregnant/std's etc... but at the same time, it may give the wrong impression, like the school encourges teens to have sex.

its a tricky subject either way. but i think if you go to the doctors, they might give them to you there also.

Of course, in certain cases, it WILL happen. But the average age will not drop to twelve. I highly doubt it. And if it did, it would most definately not be because schools are handing out condoms. What about all the other things in young people's lives that promote sex? Music videos on MTV, reality TV/etc???

If you're going to complain about schools handing out condoms, you'd have to complain about alot of other things that influence young people. And there are ALOT of things out there promoting sex...
