She is SO irritating. Little Miss perfect. Always has to be perfect. She is known as the beauty queen, so perfect and smart and beautiful. While I am known as "her sister". It's as if I do not have my own existence. When people pass me by they greet me with, "hey [censor name]'s sister!"
Why does SHE have to be the better one? Can't I be the better one at least once? This is so infuriating. She's the reason why I hate myself so much. It kills me. It's not her fault but she's killing me. Whenever we go to family visits, they would always compliment her with such grace. But when they see me, they shower me with, "Nice to meet you" and leave. It's as if a I am defect, an alternative of my sister. She's smarter, more disciplined, prettier, and perfect. The only things my friends say I'm better at is poetry, drawing, and playing instruments. However my parents don't like my talent. They say art is a waste of time. I am hurt by that. I remember painting this beutiful scene of a bird being fed by a girl near a fountain. I put it up for my school's art contest and I won first place. Sadly, my parents did not come. They didn't even bother hanging it anywhere. They just threw it in the attic. However, you can see my sister's wonderous essays and medals of academics hanging in frames on our walls. I shouldn't blame her. It's not her fault she's better, but sometimes I wish I had a meaningful existence. I mean just hear my parents when they introduce my sister, "This is our daughter, ****" and when they introduce me, "This is Yen." Hello, can't you say I'm your daughter? |
