So this is our last good night;
We both know the reason why. The stars burn so brightly tonight. There's no reason for us to lie. We both know the reason why We can't be friends; it's not right. There's no reason for us to lie— Everything's out in plain sight. We can't be friends; it's not right. But I won't be the one to cry— Everything's out in plain sight, And the moon is full in the sky. But I won't be the one to cry, So my tongue I'll bite.. The moon is full in the sky, But I can't bear to see the sight— So my tongue I'll bite. I hear you let out a pained sigh, But I can't bear to see the sight; The time has come to say goodbye. I hear you let out a pained sigh. The stars burn so brightly tonight; The time has come to say goodbye, So this is our last good night.. ----- A pantoum on Anberlin "The Sympony of Blasé," so, yes, it is hella emo. Hella. I'm probably not going to use this form again. I'm really rusty, haven't written in the longest time, just trying to get back in the groove by trying some structured poetry. Whatever. In any case, the pantoum form is flawed; the rhyme scheme only works if there's an even number of quatrains. Figure out the pantoum form, kids. |
