I dunno. What if you found out that the person that just went through death penalty was innocent? on the other hand, it'll make people scared of doing crimes. I dunno, seriously.

i am from texas, so this is really big thing and i would yes, i am for the death penalty.

as people mentioned earlier, why shouldnt they die? they deserved it, they knew better. this is the ultimate justice and is rightful for it to be served.

my grandparents were murdered when i was 10. its horrible to lose those people in your life, but they way they were killed was even worse. and for what? nothing, the murderer left empty-handed, so yes do i think he should die, yes.

it may have been a spur of a moment thing, but he shouldnt have even attempted to rob them in the first place. he doesnt realize how much grief he caused our family and though i usually forgive people, this is unpardonable.

I believe the death penalty is justified. If someone killed another person, why should he be allowed to go on?

Actually, I say he should be killed in the same way that he killed.

America has the highest homicide rate in the world (in correlation to our population)....and it has very consistantly been rising blink.gif We love revenge... errr i'm mean "justice" so much... but is the death penalty actually working from these statistics? And the majority of homicides are from firearms....is the right to bare arms really working? I don't know what to think. ermm.gif

My uncle, at 25 years old, was murdered because of mistaken identity. His murder was put to death by the state in 2002 and I felt sorry for his family. I didn't feel as though justice was served, I felt as though the world is still phucked up.

Revenge shouldn't be any justification for murdering someone, regardless of what they did.

I agree its not fair if the murder tortured someone to death. when in a death sentence he/she only get to feel the pain for a couple of seconds perhaps couple of minutes of pain then die.

OF COURSE! If there was no death penalty, then a crazy psychopathic serial killer could be let out of jail and end up killing multiple people. The same with other types of criminals. I personally think that there shouldn't be a bail for anyone. For example, if a drug dealer gets thrown into jail, he could easily just bail himself out because he has a lot of money. You see, the government gets money out of EVERYTHING. The law should be--depending on the type of crime, you should be in jail for a certain amount of years and not have any way out of it.

I think the death penalty is wrong. The murderer should suffer extreme torture...eventually they'll die. That way they won't live their days happily before they are actually put to death.

I am againsts death penalty. I believe that even though that person has either done something really bad such as killing a person. Putting him to death sentence won't bring your love one back. I guess death penalty is like, "an eye for an eye" but there is also a saying that, "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind". Futhermore, by putting him to death penalty, he is not suffering. At least make him suffer alittle. Dying is the best relief from this world.

giving a murderer the death penalty makes you a murderer. its sort of hypocritical and irony. i think prison in life is even more cruel then death penalty but at least it isnt consider killing someone.

Please, review all previous posts before posting here.

We've long passed the argument against how the morality"an eye for an eye" might not work in this case.

PLEASE DO NOT POST HERE IF YOU'RE JUST GOING TO REPEAT THE SAME EXACT IDEA SOMEONE ELSE ALREADY SAID IN THIS THREAD.

We shall learn nothing from redundancy and duplicated ideas, comprenez-vous?

Yes i am for the death penalty, i wouldnt want mass murderers out walking around after like 10 years in jail, it should be people facing death for their terrible crimes.

I think there should be a death penalty.
I mean, what if some dude planted a bomb which killed people and got away with it?
It's not fair. That's why the death penalty is a must

i had this discussion in school;
i dont think there should be a death penalty, just a life sentence to jail.
if there was death penalty; first of all they might have gotten the wrong criminal and killed someone innocent.

2)people always change afterwards, or most do.
it just isnt the governments choice to choose if someone gets to live or not because of their actions or PAST actions.

I think it IS wrong i mean what if they kill the wrong person a person that didn't even commit the crime and they can't take it back cause they already killed them!

YES! If people have committed serious crimes, why shouldn't they? Hmm...they get to live their lives out as if nothing happened in a jail cell (where they are fed properly, etc.), with the slim chance (still a chance) that they could escape or be freed somehow through another trial. Furthermore, it shows other future criminals that people like them are being convicted, and may make them think twice. I have more on this, don't worry. _smile.gif

It depends on the person that's getting it.

I think that the life in prison is worse. I mean, I'd rather die than spend my life in a prison cell with some fat lady snoring her lungs out benieth me. ermm.gif blink.gif If you consider the death penalty a more sevier punishment, then it's a better punishment if the person deserves the worst thing possible.

But I don't see how anyone could choose between two kinds of death: death of the body or death of the soul. I'd much rather lose my body by dying than lose my sould to a prison. stubborn.gif

I think it really depends on how they kill you, the way they do it now is bad. People are allowed watchyou get killed, and also sometimes with the 3 shots thing only one of the shots work. One shot(meaning injections) shuts down your heart, the other your brain...and i don't kno wat the 3rd one does. Anyway, sometimes the 2nd shot doesn't work and only your heart stops working, and your frozen because you can't move...paralized...

In extreme cases, like a sniper or mass killings, yes. In other cases. Let them rot in jail.

I think it's so stupid how the government will spend so much amount of money on one injection (which is thousands of dollars, I think) when they can just hold a gun to someone's head and kill them. That's my only problem with leathal injection.

Actually, the cost of the drugs used in lethal injections (pancuronium bromide, and potassium chloride) is only $86.08, according to the Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice.

it's the many appeals afforded to death-row iimates that costs money.

Exactly why my solution to that problem, which was encased in a 35 page thesis for my sociology class, is to eliminate parole for excessively violent offenders.

I'm sorry, but the number of success stories is so overshadowed by the massive pool of horror stories I could tell you, that it is almost essential to eliminate death row appeals.

well, a way to cut costs is quite easy, of course, it also means the death penalty is abolished, but oh well...

establish a death row in antarctica. inmates are allowed to research thier cases, etc.

at thier 'DOE' they are set free.

with thier original clothes.

:-)

(ok, i'm kidding about the set free into the freezing antarctic, but still)
