Watching a movie with your bf/gf
If you were watching a movie with your gf/bf under a blanket, would your parents be concerned and watch the movie with you guys?

hey guys, this is my first post and topic! haha. ok anyways, I was watching a movie last night with my girlfriend, under a blanket, and with the lights turned off but my dad came downstairs and watched the whole movie with us. Afterwards, he told me how he didn't like us watching the movie by ourselves and HAD to watch it with us. I got so pissed since he basically ruined the night. Anyways I was wondering if any of your parents are like mine. I mean I wouldn't mind if they check on us occasionally but watching the whole movie with us seems unreasonable. We're both 16 by the way.
Thanks

Wow. That is a bit too protective, but your dad is just concerned. Talk to him, and tell him what you've told us. That it'd be okay to check up on you two, but not sit and invade on your date.

If my parents ever knew i even had a date, theyd lock me in my room. Which is why I just choose to tell him the truth but not the whole truth. Im going out with friends. Which is the truth. But i am also going w/ my boyfriend, which i tend to leave out (:

I did talk to him, but he thinks 16 is too young to be in a relationship.. Also I dind't tell him I had a gf for a whole month until my parents found out that I did from someone else. haha.

[edit]
PLEASE VOTE AND REPLY! I WANT TO HEAR EVERYONE'S OPINION AND THEN I CAN SHOW MY PARENTS. thanks and sorry for the caps lol

umm, my parents wont watch the movie with us, no, thats just weird, plus me and my girlfriend are both almost 18 so my parents dont really care i guess, they kind of expect me not to do anything extreme in my room, but we watch movies in my room together and i dont get any resistance, although my parents did crack jokes about it at first....what are they gonna do? we are both eighteen with raging hormones, as long as protection were involved in anything we do, my parents dont care. as long as we are safe.

That would suck. I mean, if you've been caught doing things your parents didn't like with your girlfriend before, then it is understandable. Watching the whole movie just to check up on you guys is a little unreasonable. Tell your parents that checking up is ok, but you're 16 and old enough to be responsible and trusted for a couple hours, watching a movie with your girlfriend. Parents should always give you the benefit of the doubt, just don't prove them wrong.

If it was my parents; I doubt she'd even let us watch the movie. _dry.gif My mom is very suspicious. She'd immediately assume that we were going to do the deed once she leaves the room.

That's horrible. I don't think my parents would do that. They'd be too busy flipping their lips over the fact that I actually have a boyfriend. x3

Your parents just care and don't want to be responsible for "stuff" that happens. It may seem unfair, but they're doing what's best for you. End.

Wow, that is.. really sad. To have a nice night watching a movie with your bf/gf, but to know your dad is right beside you. That's over protective? You can try talkign to him, if that doesnt work. Watch at your bf/gf's place, if that doesn't work either... pinch.gif then you wait till you have your own place. stubborn.gif

Haha! Thats pretti embarassing~ A bit too protective!

U should talk to ur dad about it. Say that u won't do anything that intimate with her when u guys are alone. That he shouldn't worry too much about it and u kinda want to spend time alone with ur gf. U should tell him that u won't let the relationship affect ur school studies.

My bf is 18 1/2 and I'm 17 1/2

IF we were watching a movie at my place then they most likely would'nt be that protective and sit with us. However if the movie's kinda porn-ish... they'd just freak out and think sumthing's gona happen~ Probably won't let us watch the movie! Haha! Thinks I'll go corrupted! laugh.gif

But if its just a movie, I would'nt really want one of my parents to be watching it with us.........

your parents watching the movie with you it's sorta crazy but i imagine after watching 20 more movies, they are gonna give up on it.

i watch movies all the time with my girlfriend, we would usually watch the movie by ourselves but then her mom would walk in and check on us and it's not like we care that much. Nothing to hide anyways... or most of the time. lol.

i imagine it's just a trust issue you have to workout with your parents.

nooo. me and my boyfriend always watch movies by ourselves and put a blanket over us. (uhh not because we're cold ;D) my parents are protective but not to the point where they HAVE to see what we're doing every minute. i'd be mad if they didn't trust me enough to give me some privacy with my boyfriend.

i think that maybe if you took the blanket away, your parents wouldn't be as concerned. the blanket conceals what they're afraid you two might do.

ha, my parents would die if i was alone with a boyfriend and i'll be 18 later this month. my parents are too overprotective and old fashioned.
