I don't have a good feeling about the Canadian hockey team. We just beat the Czechs 3-2, but I'm not so sure about Russia. If we lose to Russia we're done. That's it.

*crosses fingers*

I think Canada can pull it off...it will be quite a showdown! USA lost to them today :( USA's playing Finland tomorrow, which is scary as well, since they're undefeated. I'm scuurred! Lol :)

I really liked the Japanese girl who slammed into the wall. I thought her performance was extremely interesting, if horribly executed. I mean, really, who runs into walls at the Olympics. And Irina Slutskaya surprised me. She's like 27 but she's still got it. I still think Sasha's got this in the bag. Other than Slutskaya, who's got leg problems and whom I predict won't do too good in the long program (it'll either be not technically good enough or she'll screw around and fall or something, like that Italian chick. Oh man was that hilarious!), Cohen's really got nothing to worry about.

And did anyone else see that conference with Shani and Hendrick? Those two can't stand each other.

Well, it turned out I got to catch a lot of the second period of the USA v. Finland game during my off hour, on tv and the radio...aw, it sucks that they lost, but seriously, the US played awful really. Throughout the whole tournament.
And Canada lost as well. GR. So did Slovakia! sad.gif Geebus.

Carrie--I didn't see that conference, but I read it in the news. Goodness, they need to kiss and makeup. They just need to have fun and try to get a medal. Sheesh.

uh..............there's a big heavy stone-thingy that a person throws, and 2 other ppl use brushes and scrub as fast as they can in front of the stone-thing so that they can make it go straight and make a path for it. and who ever gets it closest to the middle of this target wins. something like that. idk

So who wants to outline the main goal of curling and how it's played?

The main goal of Curling is to ensure that your marker or stone is nearest the center of a target down a long hall. Two teams face off against each other playing almost in a "Horse" like fashion. Teams of four take turns sliding their stones down to the other target, or house. Each team is given eight stones to slide, and will slide one per turn. In a normal turn one team mate will actually slide the stone across the ice, two others will brush the ice infront of the stone and other patches of ice with special brooms to increase distance and speed, also decreasing any spin or "curl", while the last member of the team may advise the other team mates or work as a spotter for the stone thrower at the end of the field.

The deliverer of the stone will aim and apply appropriate weight (force), and curl (spin or turn) to the rock to reach the desired point across the field.

[ |O ------|--------------|------ O| ]

A playing filed looks something like that, from a top view. Two houses on either side and a hall between the two. Play begins with both teams on one side of the field. Both teams will remain here during play until both teams have exhuasted all eight of their markers. Once each team has exhuasted all of their markers we reach an ending and another match will begin across the field on the opposite side.

At the end of each match, scoring will be done. In any given match only one team can score. The team with the marker nearest the center is scored. For each stone that is in the house (the target) that particular team recieves one point. However, they are only given points and scored for stones that are closer to the center of the house than the opposing team's closest stone.

Yeah. It's cool.

And, The Johnson sisters are perfect and amazing in everyway. wub.gif
Even if they don't win Gold medals.

Acid Bath Slayer explained it nicely, and I learned what it was (well, I'm still not sure if I completely understand it) from wikipedia--
